🌳 'Wilding' is a beautiful, emotional film that tells the story of Knepp Estate, one of the most significant rewilding experiments in Europe.
🦋 Based on a book by Isabella Tree, it shows us what can happen when you rewild at scale.
🌱 Whilst we don't all have a castle, there is a way for all of us to bring nature back into our lives and reap the benefits.
📽 'Wilding' launched last week at my local picture house, in Bath (see link below). Other screenings will become available from 14 June: https://lnkd.in/ehwDedTT#rewilding#backnature#mentalhealthhttps://lnkd.in/esX-BtST

In problem-solving, strategic thinking is crucial, much like how seagulls employ their 'warm charming' technique on water. First, meticulously assess the issue, breaking it down into its core components, just as seagulls gauge water depth and ripples before acting. Next, explore various angles and potential solutions, weighing each option for feasibility and effectiveness, similar to the calculated steps of seagulls.
In the final stage, execute your chosen strategy with precision, akin to seagulls delicately tapping their feet to maintain balance on water. Continuous refinement and adaptation are key, mirroring the seagulls' ability to adjust their approach in changing conditions. Over time, through trial and error, you'll refine your problem-solving technique, finding the most efficient and effective path forward, much like seagulls perfect their 'warm charming' method to procure food from the water."

Now, This is very interesting 😊
The gulls produce vibrations that mimic the sound of raindrops which entices worms to the surface, a behaviour called "Worm-Charming."
Gulls are not the only animals to practise worm-charming. The behaviour has also been observed in woodcocks, ducks, thrushes, blackbirds, and robins, as well as wood turtles.

How we build a digital #community for #rewilding 💻
With #Sylvester, we are currently gathering people interested in the #RewildingRevolution. One step is to educate people about certain species that play a key role in Portuguese nature - where our first plot will be. In the latest episode, Hedda Werres introduces the #cork#oak - a truly magnificent tree home to the western Mediterranean area. 🇵🇹
If you want to get to know more species, go check out this and other videos on our YouTube channel!

Part 2 of my series for KLCC:
Yesterday in the first half of our poaching series, we looked at the prevalence of poaching in Oregon. In today’s story, we look at ways to combat it, including robo-deer and a sniffy anti-poaching pooch. https://lnkd.in/gQX44xQq

An interesting article in the Guardian. Farmers across the world face the issues that confronts shepherd's like
Sofía González Berdasco.
She believes shepherds must find a way to live with the wolves. González Berdasco admits that sometimes she feels as if she is in a no man’s land, understanding the needs of shepherds and the wolf packs they live alongside.
She now guides tourist groups with her company, Somiedo Experience. “Working with tourists, I see some who think that if the farmers here disappeared, the wolves could live, and that we, the people from the villages, are superfluous,” González Berdasco says.
“And then I listen to many farmers who say that all the wolves should be killed, and it will be better for us. I don’t see that one side is more right than the other.”
She believes that the only possibility for reaching an understanding is to sit down and negotiate. “Neither side can lose everything, and the other side gain everything.”
This is what I believe too.
But activists, academicians, bureaucrats, NGO's and politicians don't believe in the rights of indigenous to live in their ancestral land. And that's where the human conflict that is taking human lives, is playing out.
Where the elites, banks, corporations, politicians, middle class, can pollute, and damage mother earth, in their urban conglomerations, while rural, farming communities are putting into the mixie grinder to be shredded to pieces!

eVer WoNdeRED? Wolf Mating? You dont have to! SEe 4 YOUself > https://t.co/WdT6us4IM7https://t.co/L6lucpIyT4
Wolves, majestic icons of the wild, have captivated humans for centuries. But beyond their powerful howls and fierce hunting prowess lies a captivating world of social dynamics, especially when it comes to love and family life. Today, we delve into the intricate details of wolf mating, exploring how these incredible creatures find their mates, raise their pups, and build their tight-knit packs.
More Than Just Howls: Assessing Strength and Compatibility:
Forget romantic comedies, because wolf courtship is all about observation and teamwork. While alpha pairs initiate the process, it's not just about who howls the loudest. The male subtly showcases his strength and hunting skills through playful wrestling and shared prey, impressing the female who carefully assesses his suitability as a future father. Think of it as a silent interview conducted through playful interactions!
A Dance of Noses and Nudges: Sealing the Bond:
If the female approves, their love story unfolds through a heartwarming "courtship dance." They nuzzle noses, share food, and display affection in their own unique way, solidifying their bond and preparing for the next stage. This ritual cements trust and strengthens their partnership before welcoming new life into their pack.
Pups on the Way: A Pack Effort for Family Support:
After a two-month pregnancy, the mama wolf finds a hidden den to raise her pups. The devoted alpha male transforms into a protector, bringing food and ensuring her safety while she nourishes their future pack. But unlike Hollywood portrayals, wolf love extends far beyond the alpha pair. When the pups arrive, blind and helpless, the entire pack pitches in. Older siblings, aunts, and uncles all play crucial roles in feeding, playing, and teaching the little ones the ways of the wild. It's a true testament to the power of family and cooperation in the animal kingdom.
