Wednesday, June 5, marks the seventh anniversary of Taylor Hugo Creative! To celebrate “lucky number seven,” I thought I’d share seven lessons I’ve learned in seven years of business. Here’s lesson #3:   3. Invest in the tools, systems, and people that will help your business. As a business owner—especially if you’re just getting started—you’re likely trying to keep costs low. But I do think it’s necessary to invest in the tools, systems, and people that will save or make you more money in the long run. For example, you might want to consult with a CPA on your taxes and an attorney on your contracts. You could hire a virtual assistant to take some tasks off your plate, or a coach to help you elevate your business (I’m looking at you, Maura Walters). Perhaps you need to pay a monthly subscription fee for a client management system that tracks your leads and sends invoices (I love Honeybook), or a design tool to create social media graphics, like Canva. I can't believe how quickly this quarter has gone. It's been jam-packed for my team and for my collaborators and all our projects separate to Social Ocean. And I say it every time a new quarter arrives, I desperately need to put time aside for myself, to reassess all the things that have been long booked on the diary that have been set and forget. This year, due to the heightened level of events back in all of our levels, there's lots that have been set on my diary that I have 100% forgotten.
