As soon as a tire rolls, it starts wearing out, significantly impacting its performance. And yet, tires are only tested when they're new, before going on sale. As a recognized leader in tire longevity, we welcome the new European regulations on the performance of new car tires once worn. This new European provision includes a statutory wet braking test, encouraging motorists to rely on trusted tires, right down to the legal tread depth of 1.6 mm. Confident that they can rely on their tires over the long term, European motorists will be able to keep their tires longer, preserving their purchasing power. Consumers could save almost 7 billion euros a year! A helping hand for the wallet, but also for the planet. Application of this regulation will have an impact on demand for new tires in Europe, which could be reduced by 128 million units annually, leading to a reduction in CO2 emissions of around 6.6 million metrics tons.
