🚀 Unlocking Capital for Innovation! 🌐 European Venture Capitalists, backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF), are poised for a second-half investment surge, according to EIF Director Uli Grabenwarter. In 2023, European startups raised €57.1bn, a 46% drop from 2022. Meanwhile, VCs are holding an unprecedented amount of uninvested capital. “In the political, geopolitical environment where we are facing so many challenges, the venture capital industry is the engine of funding innovation and has a particular role to play,” says Grabenwarter. The clock is ticking for VCs; they must shift from a cautious approach to active investment, benefiting startups seeking funding in 2024. EIF's investment strategy is now more focused on sustainability and thematic investments, backing climate tech and defense funds.
