Exploring Sustainable Agriculture with Biodegradable Mulch Films
In the journey towards sustainable farming, biodegradable mulch films are emerging as a promising alternative to traditional plastic mulches. At the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), we're excited about the possibilities these innovations bring for the future of agriculture. As we conduct field trials and collaborate with global partners, we're paving the way for more sustainable farming practices that align with circular economy ideals.

Developing a more sustainable food system is becoming a top priority for many companies that are now investigating new and better approaches like regenerative agriculture. Cargill is helping farmers adopt these practices with a program called RegenConnect® that determines the measures that will work best for each farm and compensates farmers for their positive environmental impacts.
In this Supply Chain Sustainability Story, learn how Cargill is promoting farmer resilience and extending those impacts to help brands meet their Scope 3 emissions. #SustainableFoods#RegenerativeAgriculturehttps://ow.ly/sAfp50SECWP

In related news, the FAIRR Initiative released their Regenerative Agriculture report and the world's largest agri-food companies with these insights:
- Nearly 63% of the 79 agri-food companies assessed by FAIRR mention regenerative agriculture in their sustainability strategies.
- 74% of those companies cite "improved soil health" as an expected outcome from regenerative agriculture programs.
- Only 36% of those companies have quantified targets for regenerative agriculture, raising concerns about delivering positive outcomes and potential risks of greenwashing.
- Just 8% of those companies have financial commitments in place to support farmers in their supply chain to incentivise the uptake of regenerative agriculture.
At Margin, we work on the ground and are able to leverage our knowledge from more than a decade in the field to help organisations looking to meet their sustainability commitments.
Get in touch to set up a 30 min one-on-one with us to jam, where we can drill down to your specific organisational needs and how to develop mutually beneficial strategies within your supply chains to meet your ESG commitments.

The Centre for Responsible Business, Solidaridad Asia and regenagri have joined hands to create a platform to promote regenerative agriculture practices in #Cotton and to educate and engage with diverse stakeholders.
The platform goes by the name of Alliance of Cotton & Textile Stakeholders on Regenerative Agriculture (ACRE) and encourages interested stakeholders along the cotton and textile value chain to embrace nature -friendly regenerative farming, given benefits to farmers, natural systems and climate. More details on ACRE can be found here: https://shorturl.at/ixIL5
This builds upon an already growing commitment among stakeholders, namely, major brands, their subsidiaries, and suppliers to address environmental and social challenges associated with cotton production.
By working together, stakeholders are not only ensuring the long-term viability of the textile industry but also contributing to a more sustainable future.

While many engaged in #foodsystems are busy at #AfricaClimateWeek, don't miss out on this important consultation on Voluntary Code of Conduct on sustainable use of plastic in agriculture. While the word "voluntary" may be initially discouraging, FAO's Codes of Conduct have huge potential legal power as internationally agreed on soft law instruments for use as reference in many trade and climate agreements or funding programs. Your organization's voice matters. As someone who has seen first hand the scale of plastic pollution from agriculture and food systems in small islands and having worked on development of other FAO Voluntary Guidelines, I am invested in seeing this consultation having widest possible reach. #plasticpollution#agriculture#foodsystems#foodsystemtransformation#environment#plastictreaty#microplastic#oceanhealth#agriplastics#plastictreaty
