It's not surprising, given that our office fields about 30 calls each week from distressed residents and #condomanagers across Canada and the USA. The key message here? Prevention, prevention, prevention. Effective noise and vibration control in condominiums isn't just a luxury, it's a right, literally in the Condo Act. No we can't eliminate all disturbances, but we can significantly reduce them with the right measures, including high quality acoustic underlayment's. Junmei Cheng is a PhD candidate in City and Regional Planning at the Knowlton School whose research focuses on transportation infrastructure and the attractiveness of cities. During the 2023–24 academic year, she received a Presidential Fellowship, the most prestigious award given by The Ohio State University Graduate School. The award recognizes the outstanding scholarly accomplishments of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research. As Cheng enters this new phase, the Knowlton School sat down to talk with her about what brought her to planning, her research on urban planning and transportation engineering, and her plans for the future.
