Happy National Dog Day!🐾 If you have a four-legged friend and an upcoming move, here are a few tips to keep them safe and calm during the transition: 🐕 Update your pet’s information! Be sure they have their tags on and that the vet and microchip records have your new address. 🐶 Make them feel safe! Utilize a crate (if your doggo is crate trained and finds it helpful) or drop them off with a loved one. 🐩 Take a long walk before your move. This will help tire them out and prioritizes quality time together before you're distracted. 🐕🦺 Avoid the commotion! Keep our pet out of the way of movers, trucks, and boxes -- for their sake and everyone else's! 🦮 Put together a pet comfort pack! Grab dog treats, toys, a bed, and other favorite items to have accessible right away at your new home. See MORE tips for moving with your four-legged friend: https://lnkd.in/gpNibYam

Bye Bye Blackbird. 😭 How would you want to be cared for at the end of your life? Give us a call to start compiling your #advancedcare and #endoflife wishes.https://https://lnkd.in/ey54zjfZ We will help you navigate the journey.
Yesterday this little blackbird came into my life and left a mark in its short life we were together. Having arrived home from onsite project work, I found my dog running back and forth to one of the hedges in the garden. When I ran down to find out what was there (thinking it was a hedgehog) I found this bird with a broken leg, weak and trying to move. There have been a lot of magpies attack nests lately that I can only presume it fell from a height (having fallen myself resulting in a broken back I can empathise). I wasn't sure what to do so lifted it on a spade and put into a box resting on a height. I then googled who best to contact and found The Irish Wildlife Trust who promptly returned my email and gave me the unfortunate advice to bring the bird to the vet as it was likely dying so put it out of its misery. I triple checked with my dear friend Bev Truss from The Hogsprickle and the local vet, who all agreed it was time for the bird to die. So off to the local vet who promptly (and for free) took care of the bird and gave a quick injection to end its life. I felt sad on the way to the vet so gently played The Beatles 'Blackbird' and sang to it (yes I am a softie underneath the blunt exterior). Even after leaving the bird at the vets the feeling of sadness stayed with me. I did a walk around the garden this morning to check there weren't more birds on the ground, but also mindful that likely there are now fledglings without a parent. Life and nature can be cruel. What was brought to mind is my work through Living Legacy helping others gather their plans for advanced care and end of life, while they are healthy, well, and able. We don't know when or how our end comes. So when in determining what we want, consider starting with your preferred farewell song and work back from there. For now, dear little Blackbird, may you take your broken leg and learn to fly in your new realm. Jen x #endoflifeplanning #nature #advancedcare #legacybuilding
