Keeping interest and enthusiasm going is a never-ending concern for any one working in the Emergency department. There are many ways that can be fun and exciting, but all take some time to plan properly. At #astermedcity Emergency department, we do updates or topics of interest with respect to the emergency medicine. This meeting is done religiously every week and all the attending, residents, nurses and paramedics are encouraged to attend. Initially began as in small numbers, this week there was a good turnout. Interprofessional teamwork is considered as the key to improve the quality of patient management in critical settings such as trauma emergency departments, but it is not fully conceptualized in these areas to guide practice. This practice of weekly updates and "meet & greet" involving all department members is a good way to improve this team work & thereby provide good quality care to patients.

TIDBIT TUESDAY! STARTING A LIFE CARE PLAN FOR A PATIENT WITH CHRONIC PAIN ANNE SAMBUCINI RN, CCM, CDMS, CNLCP, MSC-C JNLCP EXCERPT SPRING 2016 In life care planning we address care needs across the life span. Because chronic pain is a complex medical issue that may change over a person’s life, the nurse life care planner (NLCP) should consider medical and nursing diagnoses, the injured person’s response to treatment, coping mechanisms, current treatment modalities, aging aspects of the injury as it relates to chronic pain and other factors that may impact quality of life. The goal is to improve functional ability and quality of life while preventing complications. The nurse gathers data by reviewing the medical records, and interviewing the injured person and their support system. As we know critical thinking begins with data collection/ assessment. While most injured persons do not seek drugs, one should keep in mind any history of drug seeking behavior, alcohol abuse and any history of problems with law enforcement associated with drug use. #nurse #ot #pt #doctors #Legalnurseconsultant #Casemanagement

ICU & Rapid Response Registered Nurse | taking medical records from chaos to clarity in medical legal cases
Part of my job is working as the Rapid Response Nurse in my hospital. I get to respond to codes, intervene before a patient crashes, escalate care when the primary nurse isn't able to do so, and step in when there's signs (labs, sepsis markers, vital signs) that a patient may be starting to take a turn for the worst. I also get to be the glorified IV nurse when someone isn't able to get IV access on their patient (fun fun).. We had a code last week where I had to do an intraosseous (IO) access. IO access is a big catheter that goes into the bone marrow to be able to administer medications. The patient didn't have IV access (big no no), no blood pressure (which means no luck putting in an IV during the code), so we had no way to give medications. So I pulled out the drill and popped an IO in. There's a soft "pop" when it goes in, kind of like drilling through drywall.. We were able to give medications and successfully resuscitate the patient. Of course, there are risks. Such as displacement (ouch), leaking of fluid into the surrounding tissues, and infection, to name a few. So we pull it out as soon as we establish peripheral or central IV access. Here to use my critical care experience to take the stress out of medical records. #medicalmalpractice #personalinjury #lawyer #attorney #medmal #pi #registerednurse #rn #criticalcare #icu #legalnurse #legalnurseconsultant #lnc

Founder of CodePRep™ | Healthcare Emergency Response Training | Nurse Innovator | Educator | Speaker | Solutions Specialist
The synergy between nurses and patients in emergencies, particularly cardiac arrest, hinges on aligning the mindset and skillset of nurses with the patient's immediate needs. Cardiac arrest response is not a specialty confined to critical care. Patients must receive immediate and competent care, regardless of their location in the hospital. Supporting an inclusive Basic Life Support (BLS) rapid response format involves ensuring that inpatient nurses and other healthcare professionals across all departments have the training and confidence to perform life-saving skills. A well-coordinated BLS rapid response can significantly improve patient outcomes in cases of cardiac arrest. #PESI #BLSrapidresponse #synergyinaction

Pro Voice Talent, Actor, and Retired Nurse. My goal: To breathe life into the written word. Medical Narration is my specialty. VO's delivered swiftly and smoothly. Source-Connect Available.
As a nurse, I cared for patients battling chronic pain. Now, I'm on the other side, navigating my own journey with back pain. Not fun! It's a unique perspective - the medical pro turned patient. But here's the twist - I've channeled my nursing background and discomfort into how I present medical narration! I can bring a special understanding to my work, having been on both sides of the healthcare coin. My journey coupled with my nursing experience has fueled my passion for medical narration - it's not just a job, it's a personal mission, turning pain into power and knowledge into empathy! #Taylormade #ChronicPainWarrior #NurseTurnedVoiceover #Reflections #VoiceoverJourney #MedicalNarration #ExplainerVideo #eLearning #CorporateNarration #Voiceover
