For Mental Health Awareness Month, our Intentional Inclusion and Diversity Council brought Methodist Dallas employees and pet therapy dogs together for a sweet, slobbery lovefest. Of course, we tried the dog paw trend with a couple of our favorite fluffy friends, Caleb and Emma. They won our hearts!

There is no doubt our little friends make some of the best listeners and the ultimate companions. We would be at a loss without our Chico. Just thinking of him makes me smile. The Push-Up Challenge isn't just about push-ups, it's about pushing for better mental health for all of us. By choosing Lifeline WA as your beneficiary, each push-up (or exercise alternative) you do helps us answer each call from a help seeker: 💙 A call to Lifeline is made every 28 seconds, 💙 On average, it costs $39 for a trained Crisis Supporter to answer and provide a lifesaving conversation with each help seeker. 💙 A fundraising goal of $250, ensures that 6 help seekers are provided with a life-saving conversation in their time of need. If you want to donate to my page: https://lnkd.in/gvHiti7A If you want to feel great, while helping to raise awareness for mental health issues in Australia, register now and get involved, we'd love your support in pushing for better mental health. Did you know that the definition of trauma is not specific and does not depict one type of event? Trauma is subjective and variably based on each individual’s experience. As Dr. Gabor Mate states, "Trauma is not what happens to you; it is what happens inside of you as a result of what happens to you." Experiencing trauma due to pet loss under varying circumstances is not only genuine but much more prominent. However, individuals can also experience posttraumatic growth from pet loss. When we think of the Pet Industry, we often picture a fun and playful work environment. However, there are some hidden struggles that we rarely talk about. As pet caregivers, we understand that while we care for your pets as if they were our own, they may not see us the same way. This can be disheartening, frightening, and frustrating for both pets and caregivers alike. Losing a pet is a traumatic experience for their family, but what is less known is that it can also be hard on every person who cared for that pet and developed a bond with them. These are just a few of the challenges faced by those who work in the Pet Industry, and it's time to start talking about them. Statistics show that 1 in 6 people who work in the Pet Industry have attempted or contemplated suicide. As a Manager in this field, I have dedicated myself to ensuring my team and peers always have ways to communicate, cope, and receive support when needed. I encourage everyone, regardless of their profession, to check in on their colleagues and ensure they have the resources they may need one day. Let's work together to support one another and break the stigma surrounding mental health in the workplace. #mentalhealthawareness #petindustry #supporteachother #buildeachotherup #mentalhealthmatters #endthestigma

🐾 Dog Anxiety Awareness Week: Tips for Approaching Fearful Pets at the Clinic At SpayToday, we understand that visiting the vet can be stressful, especially for our furry friends with anxiety. Here are some fear-less methods we use to help our canine patients feel safe and comfortable during their visits: 1. Respect Boundaries: Approach fearful dogs calmly and avoid sudden movements. Allow them to approach you on their terms. 2. Use Positive Reinforcement: Offer treats and gentle praise to create positive associations with the clinic environment. 3. Low-Stress Handling: Employ gentle handling techniques and consider using calming pheromones or music in the exam room. 4. Take It Slow: Allow extra time for anxious dogs to acclimate before beginning procedures. Patience is key! 5. Desensitization: Gradually expose dogs to clinic sights and sounds outside of appointments to reduce fear triggers. Remember, each dog is unique, and we're committed to providing a fear-free experience for all our patients. Let's make Dog Anxiety Awareness Week a time to focus on understanding and alleviating our canine companions' anxieties! 🐶💙 #DogAnxietyWeek #FearFreeVet #SpayTodayCares

Did you know that nurturing a bond with a furry companion can positively impact your overall well-being? Research consistently shows that having pets can reduce stress levels, alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, and even lower blood pressure. The companionship they offer isn't just comforting; it's therapeutic. Whether you're greeted by a wagging tail, a gentle purr, or the flutter of wings, pets provide unconditional love and support, promoting a sense of security and belonging. 🐾 Beyond emotional support, pets encourage physical activity and routine, which are crucial for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Daily walks with a dog, interactive playtime with a cat, or caring for small animals can increase exercise and reduce feelings of isolation. Their presence can also enhance social interactions, fostering connections with fellow pet owners and neighbors. 🐶🐱 At New Hope Counseling Group, we recognize the profound impact pets can have on mental health. Whether you're coping with stress, navigating life transitions, or seeking companionship, consider the therapeutic benefits of pet ownership. Join us in celebrating the incredible bond between humans and animals. #PetTherapy #MentalHealth #NewHopeCounseling
