In celebration of #EarthDay and #EarthWeek, a group of Mercury Marine employees participated in the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program. The team scoured the ditches and landscape to remove trash, recyclables and litter along a stretch of Highway 23 in Fond du Lac County. Wisconsin’s Adopt-a-Highway program helps keep roughly 11,800 miles of state, federal and interstate highways clean and aims to educate the traveling public on properly disposing of litter. We’re honored to be part of the program, and we thank our volunteers for their hard work and dedication to keeping our environment clean. #GoBoldly

C-Tow’s Ripple Program is here to support your efforts for a cleaner environment! As Ontario gears up for the fifth annual Provincial Day of Action on Litter on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, we’re excited to announce our support for individuals hosting clean-up events. We believe in creating a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable environment, and we’re here to help you make a significant impact. To assist you in your commendable efforts, C-Tow’s Ripple Program will provide a clean-up kit to support your event. Whether it’s cleaning up a neighborhood, shoreline, or street, every action counts, and together, we can make a huge difference. Spread the word and engage your community! We will assist you in doing this by posting your event across our social media platforms. Use #actONlitter and #Rippleprogram to share your initiative. Let's work together to keep Peterborough clean and green! As a community, we prioritize the safety and cleanliness of our streets, sidewalks, and green spaces. Litter not only looks bad, but it also harms our environment, animals, and is expensive to clean up. By properly disposing of waste, we can reduce litter and protect our local ecosystems, wildlife, and drinking water. Did you know that the City of Peterborough invests in waste clean-up operations in our parks, greenspaces, and streets every year? The City maintains over 350 garbage and recycling receptacles year-round, with more bins added in the summer. In 2022, the City spent $394,681 on parks garbage pickup and litter collection in parks, greenspaces, and on streets. Public Works collected 3 tonnes of orphaned waste and litter in February 2024. Additionally, we provide enhanced waste receptacle services in the downtown area through a partnership with a Downtown Business Improvement Area funded by the Public Works Operations group. Let's do our part and properly dispose of waste to keep Peterborough litter-free. Together, we can make a difference! #Peterborough #CleanCommunity #WasteReduction #ProtectOurEnvironment #litteractionplan For more information, please City of Peterborough's Litter Action Plan webpage https://lnkd.in/gCPeM9XZ.

The flow of litter to the Anacostia River—particularly plastic bottles—is as stark as it is in many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. D.C. leaders and various nonprofits work to reduce the trash as best they can. They rely on a variety of tactics like trash traps, skimmer boats, laws and regulations—even volunteers who pay for their kayak rental in the litter they pick up. Learn more about these efforts for #PlasticFreeJuly.

Alongside our obvious delight at securing national media coverage of a local litter picking story, was, if I'm honest, an initial element of surprise. 📰 I suspected the Bournemouth Daily Echo would be all over it, but BBC News and Sky News? But then actually, no, why wouldn't they be? 👷🏼♀️ This was a great story about local people and businesses, including Biffa and its long-standing customer Mitchells & Butlers PLC making a positive difference to the area they love. But it also spoke to wider themes and issues too: 🚯 The scourge of litter across the UK and its damaging effect on wildlife and the environment ♻ The need for policies to tackle litter and incentivise stagnant recycling rates, including the introduction of a UK-wide Deposit Return Scheme. 🗑 The need for clearer, simpler, guidelines about what can and can't be recycled to avoid confusion, wishcycling and contamination. Watch this space for another big Biffa litter pick later this month, this time at Cannock Chase in the West Midlands. #comms #media #externalcomms #stories #journalism #newspapers #environment #recycling #environment
