Not all drugs are created equal. Traditional drug tablets are most common, but for children and older adults, they can be difficult to swallow. That's where ODFs or orodispersible films can help. These new drug forms are easier for patients to take because they melt inside the mouth. At our Application Service Lab, scientists like Luna test them with ingredients like excipients and sweeteners to meet the patient's needs. See why she thinks ODFs can be an excellent choice for patients!

For my Master thesis, I developed and characterised Oral Dissolvable Films (ODFs) containing Diclofenac sodium as active ingredient for geriatric patients. Most elderly and dysphagic patients have problem swallowing conventional solid dosage forms like tablets or capsules hence ODFs offer a better and more convenient alternative. What makes this research project fascinating is the fact that, I used natural gums, Khaya and Albizia as cheaper substitutes for costly synthetic polymers like HPMC. As usual, Ben Adlin is on fire! This latest study on #CBD oral solution for mild to moderate anxiety is exciting to read. Key takeaways: significant reduction in anxiety scores, improvements in depression and sleep quality, and a strong safety profile. Imagine that, a promising alternative treatment! 🌿 This Phase 3, prospective, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled cohort study evaluated the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of "nanodispersible" (It almost sounds magically robotic!) CBD oral solution (150 mg/mL) versus placebo in individuals with mild to moderate anxiety disorders. This study design is characteristic of a randomized controlled trial (RCT), considered the gold standard in clinical research for assessing the effects of interventions while minimizing bias. I have to say, though, the placebo effect may be governed by the ECS (still a strong possibility in my mind. Still doesn't change the results here, though) Blog translation of the ’s / -’s of the study is coming soon (subscribe to https://lnkd.in/gFNA26fZ if you want notification) Read the article here : https://lnkd.in/g6bcN5qz #MedicalCannabis #AnxietyRelief #CBDResearch

PFIZER MED DESIGN PUBLICATION: Decarboxylative couplings would have been my new favorite disconnection - had it been around when I was learning them back in grad school! This advance using simple iron salts from Pfizer authors Mark Bundesmann and Scott Bagley, along with The University of Wisconsin - Madison, brings further practicality and simplicity to the method. I love this phrase from the summary "...coupling partners mediated by inexpensive, terrestrially abundant, and non-toxic Fe(III) salts". 'Terrestrially abundant' is brilliant. Iron certainly is! https://lnkd.in/eKdQtcCj #pfecolleague
