Many healthy individuals are qualified to donate blood, and many also need blood to survive and to have a continued better quality of life. Most of the time, both people from opposite sides of the spectrum do not meet. In times of crucial and urgent cases, the results can be tragic for the patient while the individual willing to donate is deprived of the opportunity to help. This scenario is especially true in places where blood banks are always in short supply of blood, and voluntary unpaid blood donations are poor. The opportunity to donate/receive blood is simply unavailable. This is where My Hema Circle comes in. It is a platform that allows willing people to enlist as potential blood donors and gives patients access to these generous individuals so that they can have blood supply at crucial points in their treatment. 😊 So, I am back with blood platelets donation after some - unnecessary as it was proven - break and I am really happy about it! 👉 You see, I had to donate blood around beg. of February and I though that I had to wait three (3) months between a typical blood donation and a blood platelets donation; alas this is not the case. 🔎 As a donor, you can switch from blood platelets to blood donation and vice versa in just one (1) month! The 3-month restriction only applies when you donate a flask of blood, as the human body recovers donated blood volumes much slower than blood platelets which are normally recovered in a matter of days... 💡 Good to know for next time! #blooddonation #bloodplatelets #donatelife

"Sir, your ****( close relative) was given a platelet transfusion yesterday, we need 2-3 people to donate blood by 5 PM today at the hospital." I got this phone call from a reputed hospital today morning. I was curious on its business model and did some research post the donation. Its a HUGE 3-4 billion dollar industry pertaining to 2.5-3% of total export volume in the United States. Its a necessary thing and a very profitable too since the direct cost of raw material ( the blood) is ZERO for voluntary donations. And it is always short in supply. Profit is not bad, but it has a very dark side too as you dig more and more , especially in smaller blood centres called professional donors. People with low income are targeted and are dependent on it and donate more than 100 times a year( 25x the normal allowed volume) for small amounts, which is a big risk to their health and also to the health of the recipients'. The best blood is volunteered blood , so make sure to donate blood voluntarily to good banks, coz you don't know when you may need it next. And when you do need it, pray to god (and ask the doctor) that you get a volunteered blood, not blood by a professional donor. As a last note, the hospital may earn money from your blood, but the good will come back to you some day for sure. #bloodbank #blooddonation

Blood donation - can you/do you? At this time of year in particular there seems to be more people needing blood donations. Maybe more people have serious accidents because of the longer dark hours, on top of the planned operations and other reasons people need #blood. Because I have a universal blood type that can be given safely to anyone needing blood, if they can’t indicate (or don’t know) what blood group they are, I was telephoned to ask if I could donate. To me, this sounds too good to be true, but credible sources insist, e.g.: https://lnkd.in/gKi5TVW9 It's relatively easy and convenient for most people, and you can even fool around on your phone while you do it. Despite this, only 3% of age-eligible adults in the US donate blood each year. If you are a healthy adult >110lbs, I strongly encourage you to consider seeking out a donation center and trying it out. It's not as scary as it may seem and I can't think of an easier way to make such a huge impact. We are facing a severe blood shortage in the US --- your donation will not be wasted!
