🇵🇭 🚢 PHL emerges as ‘new frontier’ in LNG market THE country’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) market is gaining ground, attracting strong interest from producers and traders overseas. “The Philippines is emerging as a new frontier LNG market,” it said, while noting that the country’s LNG imports could increase up to 22 mtpa (million ton per annum) if and when all seven LNG planned terminals are completed. Two LNG facilities have already been completed. These are FGen LNG Corp.’s interim floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) LNG terminal, with a capacity of 5.26 mtpa, and Linseed Field Corp.’s FSRU and onshore regasification project, with a capacity of 3mtpa. https://lnkd.in/gehhCcgP #LNG #FSRU #Fgen

#MilestoneMoment - A befitting cap for 2023 - Tango FLNG receives first gas Oil and Gas Giant Eni has achieved the introduction of gas into the Tango Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility moored in Congolese waters late last year - This was achieved just 12 months after taking FID on the Congo LNG project. Following completion of the commissioning phase, Tango FLNG will produce its first LNG cargo by the first quarter of 2024, placing the Republic of Congo on the list of LNG-producing countries. The Tango FLNG facility has a liquefaction capacity of about 1 billion cubic meters per year (BCMA) and is moored alongside the Excalibur Floating Storage Unit (FSU), using an innovative configuration called "split mooring," implemented here for the first time in a floating LNG terminal. Congo LNG will monetize gas resources from the Marine XII permit and reach around 4.5 bcm/yr of plateau gas liquefaction capacity under a phased development, with a target of zero routine gas flaring. A second FLNG facility with a capacity of about 3.5 BCMA is currently under construction and will begin production in 2025. The entire volume of LNG produced will be marketed by Eni. #gasproduction #congo #lng #flng #oilandgasindustry

The US has become the world’s biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas for the first time, with 2023 shipments overtaking leading suppliers Australia and Qatar. The US exported 91.2 million metric tons of LNG in 2023, a record for the country (Bloomberg) The expanded output was due to last year’s restart of Freeport LNG in Texas, which had been shuttered for months following a June 2022 fire and explosion Europe remained the main destination for US LNG exports in December, with 5.43 MT, or just over 61%, and Asia was the second largest export market, taking 2.29 MT, or 26.6% Another ~4 bcfd of capacity is expected to be added by 4Q 2024/1Q 2025, with the completion of 2 new LNG projects, Venture Global LNG Inc.’s Plaquemines facility in Louisiana and Golden Pass in Texas #US #LNG #Henryhub

With the first natural gas feed and flaring, LNG Canada, a joint venture company encompassing Shell, Petronas, PetroChina, KOGAS, and Mitsubishi, is taking a key action toward putting into operation mode its liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in Kitimat, Canada’s British Columbia (B.C.). Since LNG Canada has disclosed its plans to introduce natural gas to its Kitimat facility for the first time, after taking delivery of a shipment of refrigerants, the beginning of operations is becoming visible on the project’s horizon, as anticipation grows over its potential to put the Great White North on the map of LNG exporting countries. After natural gas is received from the Coastal GasLink pipeline and all safety checks are out of the way, a small flare pilot is expected to be activated at the vapor flare tower. This will be followed by low-level flaring occurring over several weeks before more visible flaring. The introduction of natural gas and flaring activities marks “a pivotal step” in the Shell-led project’s safe start-up program, according to the joint venture, which is preparing to ship its first cargoes of made-in-B.C. LNG by the middle of 2025 from Canada’s first large-scale LNG export facility.

𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐋𝐍𝐆 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐏 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐋𝐍𝐆 𝐆𝐢𝐦𝐢 Floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) specialist Golar LNG and UK energy major BP, as operator of the Greater Tortue-Ahmeyim LNG project, have executed agreements to implement a commercial reset for FLNG Gimi. The commercial reset agreement simplifies contractual cash flows and settles previous disputes related to payment mechanisms for pre-commercial operations date contractual cash flows. Golar and BP have agreed to an updated schedule of daily payments until the commercial operations date (COD) which have step-up mechanisms based on project milestones up to the COD and are secured by long stop dates. Golar will also be entitled to certain lump sum bonus payments subject to the achievement of certain project milestones. These pre-COD cash flows are expected to be deferred on the balance sheet and amortized over the 20-year contract term from the commercial operations date. The commercial reset settles all ongoing disputes including the current arbitration process. To shorten the time to COD the parties further agreed to start the commissioning of the FLNG unit with an LNG cargo before the availability of gas from the FPSO which arrived on location in early June. The FPSO is expected to process over 500m standard cubic feet of gas daily. It will remove water, condensate, and impurities from the gas before transferring it via pipeline to the Gimi. At the FLNG vessel, the gas will be cryogenically cooled, liquefied, and stored before being transferred to LNG carriers for export. Some of the LNG will be allocated to help meet growing demand in the two host countries – Mauritania and Senegal. As for the FLNG, it is owned and operated by Golar LNG and it arrived on site in February this year after a voyage of around 9,000 nautical miles. FLNG Gimi can store up to 125,000 cu m of LNG.

For the first time, the United States has emerged as the world's largest exporter of #LiquefiedNaturalGas (LNG), surpassing both Australia and Qatar in terms of shipments. In 2023, the US achieved a record export volume of 91.2 million tonnes of #LNG, according to recent data. This significant increase in output was largely attributed to the recommencement of operations at the Freeport LNG facility in Texas. The facility had been out of action for several months following a fire and explosion in June 2022. In a notable shift, Qatar, which held the top spot in LNG supply in 2022, experienced a reduction in its export volumes for the first time since at least 2016. This 1.9% decline resulted in Qatar falling to the third position in global LNG shipments. More at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors #gas #energy http://ow.ly/Rs741057FHv

Helping customers through the #energytransition and maximising growth in #chemicals markets, whilst achieving #sustainability goals with data and intelligence services from ICIS
With 40% of all #European #gas supply being delivered as #LNG, it is becoming crucial to track developments in this market. #ICIS team of Energy Experts put together this Trade Flow Report to provide visibility on the most important events. 3 top highlights: 1. Freeport LNG Terminal: The Freeport LNG terminal in the US experienced debottlenecking work, which caused a delay in LNG shipments. Feedgas nominations were revised down, leading to reduced LNG exports from the US. The market activity and shipping rates remained stable during this period. 2. Balticconnector Pipeline: The Finland-Estonia Balticconnector pipeline will be in commercial use from 22 April. This pipeline will enhance gas transmission between Finland and the Baltic countries, reducing reliance on LNG imports. 3. Oman LNG Sales and Purchase Agreement: Oman LNG has finalized a sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Turkey's BOTAS for 1 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG. The SPA will run for 10 years starting in 2025. Read the full Report here.
