I sold my sweet company earlier this year. Brandi Hensel, PharmD. & the team are soaring with it. Why did I sell? 👇🏻 Building is different than scaling. I'm a builder at heart. • I validated the hypothesis. • I built beautiful systems. • I hired a team. • I grew it to $1M revenue • Sparked a grassroots movement for pharmacists PGx Now that this idea has been validated it is time to crank it up and scale to our profession more widely. Pharmacists are the prime profession to champion PGx. We are the medicine experts, afterall. It is time to scale this army of 350 pharmacists we've built. I'm not the right person for that big job. In 2017, while I was managing a clinic in Hollister, DosePacker Inc. was just an idea. At that point, my involvement was more about understand all the how's and what if's. In July that year, Mike Patel (Founder) introduced an ambitious goal: to build a robot capable of filling bubble packs. This idea, initially envisioned by Feroz, was both challenging and exciting. I recognized the potential and decided to align myself with this vision. The first step was to immerse completely in understanding the medication packaging process by engaging directly with pharmacy staff. Their insights were invaluable in shaping our approach.   My role automatically expanded to figuring out the logistics of Research & Manufacturing, which led me to explore options in India. This strategy significantly accelerated our research and allowed us to make valuable mistakes to identify problems & hence solutions faster. At the same time, I had to meticulously manage the procurement of Components and packaging materials from China. This involved coordinating with suppliers to ensure we had the necessary resources for production. Balancing these responsibilities required careful planning and a focus on the end goal. The journey taught me that keeping focus on the end goal truly makes everything work out in the end.   Throughout this journey while I have been constantly changing my hats as an Engineer, Business Analyst, Designer, Manufacturer and as a Co-founder, my approach has been pretty simple, to keep my head down and contribute wherever I could. It hasn't been easy at all, but staying dedicated to the vision and working hard were essential. Every challenge was met with a commitment to finding solutions and moving forward. Reflecting on this journey, it’s clear that perseverance and teamwork are key to turning ambitious ideas into reality. The journey has been very demanding, but the collective effort and focus on our end goal made it possible to achieve what we set out to do.   I’m grateful for this opportunity, where I get to be a part of this transformation and for the support and hard work of everyone involved. 24 YEARS AT VITHIT! 🥳 I just got one of those ‘congrats for 24 years at VITHIT’. 24 years ago Bill Clinton was president, he hadn’t met Monica Lewinsky yet. The beach was the top grossing movie and Brad Pitt married Jennifer Aniston (I’m still team Aniston) So what have I learned 🤓 Early learnings, Nobody can sell like the brand owner. If you are in an office and you are not profitable, get the hell out and sell! I realised this almost too late. Mid learnings. Your first hire needs to be someone who does all the things you can’t. In my case its accounting, then administration. This way I could drive sales. Mid to late. Hire well and you’ll never have a sleepless night. We have surrounded ourselves with empowered people who win when the company wins. That way, everyone is incentivised to drive forward. Late learnings. Once you get the company to good growth and profatibility, get out of the way. The right people will freshen things up and energise the company. You can still influence from afar, but empowered people are what drives companies. Overall learnings. You will fall, get back up and keep fighting. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it (when your product is selling, change nothing). Try to enjoy the journey, its hard when you are fighting to stay alive in the early stages, but enjoy the little wins, the big ones will come. In 2015 I got the opportunity of a lifetime as Principal IT Business Systems Analyst due to a resounding referral from Tiffany L. Waalen and because Rick Pook took a chance on me. I loved what I did and who I worked with. In 2018 I was promoted to Quality Systems Manager for Medical Surgical (Covidien Merger) due, in no small part, to Michael Soma. Unfortunately, due to reorganization I lost my role as Manager and my advice regarding the creation of a reporting team was left unheeded (until after I left the team of course). As luck would have it, in 2021 I was referred to a Global Regulatory Informatics role where I got to work with another amazing group of people and introduce some cool new measures and capabilities. Thank you to Rebecca (Hessler) Fleming. Unfortunately again, I was laid off in April of 2023. I had intended on spending the rest of my career at Medtronic, so this news was devasting. I tried hard to get another position at Medtronic, but while there were close opportunities, nothing worked out - even within my old group in Quality. This was the end of me trying for a job back at Medtronic - I had to move on. I had started a position as BI Architect at Patterson Companies in September 2023, because of an amazing manager and a team that saw great potential in me. Although the company is wonderful, the people are amazing and the job is exciting, I found my heart just wasn’t in it. I had applied to a position at Olympus earlier on that did not work out. The recruiter reached out again for another role after I had started at Patterson for Senior Manager, Global Quality Data Analytics. Having applied to over 500 jobs since April, I was incredibly excited for the role, but I tamped down my excitment as I was used to being declined by then. We’ll wouldn’t you know Olympus offered me the role! I can’t put into words my level of excitement! When I had gotten the first role at Medtronic, I was brought to tears because of what it meant for me and my family - this offer was no different. I start soon and I can’t wait to start building capabilities and a team over the next several years. I feel terrible at leaving Patterson after 4 months, but this is the second opportunity of a lifetime I’ve had and I can’t pass it up! What can I (or you) learn from this journey? “Everything happens for a reason.” I learned a lot, got to work with amazing people and technology, and was put through the ringer a few times while at Medtronic - but I’m eternally grateful for all of it. All of these experiences set me up for this dream role at Olympus. Thank you to everyone who has helped me, both directly and indirectly, to make it to this point in my career. I will not soon forget.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗿? As an OR pharmacist in the hospital, I witnessed firsthand the effects drug shortages have on patient care. As a sales leader engaging with healthcare providers nationwide, I've learned that while medication sourcing and gaps in the supply chain are common challenges for all hospitals and clinics, each one employs unique strategies to address it. These experiences demonstrated that the foundation of successful partnerships with customers is asking good questions, being genuinely curious about the challenges they face because only then can you be viewed as a trusted advisor and an extension of their healthcare team. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳? Be patient, but persistent. Just keep going - especially when the going gets tough. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆? Entrepreneurship is my favorite core value because it embodies innovation, resilience, and the drive to create positive change. It requires a forward-thinking mentality that is essential to remain at the forefront of this industry and develop healthcare solutions that follow emerging trends in healthcare. 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳?
