How do you ensure safe establishment of a pneumoperitoneum during laparoscopic procedures? Medline’s Veress Needle plays a crucial role in laparoscopic procedures, as it is designed to provide a safe and controlled method for entering the abdominal cavity—enabling the creation of a working space. This controlled entry helps lower the risk of organ injury, enhance surgeons’ visualisation, and ensure the success and safety of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dEKDeurU In our MED-LAP series, every week, you will be introduced to an additional product in the MED-LAP portfolio. Interested in anything you’ve seen so far? 😷#RCT: Laparoscopic ventral hernia repair: early follow-up of a randomized controlled study of primary fascial closure before mesh placement. ➡️https://bit.ly/3vskBWx 🏥In this study that included 192 procedures, closure of the hernia defect did not increase the risk of postoperative hernia site complications, or pain after three months. 💬No indication to close the defect unless late issues such as recurrence are more common. 🙌BJS (British Journal of Surgery) #LeadingSurgicalEducation

How is a laparoscopic hysterectomy performed. A laparoscopic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that can offer many benefits over traditional surgery, including smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery. During a laparoscopic hysterectomy, the surgeon uses a laparoscope to remove the uterus and, if necessary, other reproductive organs through small incisions in the abdomen. This advanced technique results in reduced scarring and a shorter hospital stay, allowing for a quicker return to normal activities. If you're exploring treatment options for gynaecological conditions, ask your doctor about the benefits of a laparoscopic hysterectomy. In this episode of the Journal Club Spotlight, we share a recent update to guidelines from the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS). It outlines an updated set of recommendations for using antiplatelet and antithrombotic therapy in neurointerventional procedures. In the setting of neurointerventional procedures, recommendations for platelet function testing previously only appeared in the guidelines of the Japanese Society of Neuroendovascular Therapy. This update of the SNIS guidelines includes this practice for platelet function testing, as it is considered useful to guide local practice as well. 💡This recent study delves into the predictive power of machine learning in forecasting osteoporotic fractures post-vertebroplasty. Leveraging a support vector machine-based model, researchers developed a web-based calculator that effectively assesses the risk of new-onset vertebral compression fractures following percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP). This innovative approach enhances clinical decision-making and fosters personalized care in spinal surgery, marking a significant advancement in predictive analytics for osteoporotic fractures.
