As we celebrate Juneteenth today, we also recognize that there is still so much work to be done and a hurtful history to overcome. One of the things we are grateful for at Meadows Behavioral Healthcare is the work our Senior Fellow Resmaa Menakem, a leading voice in today’s conversation on racialized trauma, is doing. Good morning! ALS is one of the most insidious diseases in the category of neuromuscular disease. In my work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, I hear a lot of devastating stories about what this illness does to patients. I turned on the Today Show a couple months ago, and saw the most heartwarming story of a woman who is only about 32 years old, and has been diagnosed with this terrible, aggressive illness, and is choosing to build a platform to raise awareness about ALS, and finding humor in all of our situations. I knew I had to have her on the MDA Quest podcast. And I did! My conversation with Brooke Eby is one of my all-time favorite podcast interviews. She is such a bright light, and had me laughing, even during what could have been the hardest parts of our conversation. I hope you will listen and share. You can find it at https://lnkd.in/geMbFX74.
