Safer Recruitment - Good Practices When advertising job posts, organisations should clearly state their commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare & mention if the role requires DBS and Barred List Checks. In job descriptions, person specifications, and role profiles, you should clearly outline roles and responsibilities related to safeguarding. For application forms, you should encourage the use of application forms over CVs, with a simplified version for volunteer positions. Collect references, preferably from the current or last employer, when working with children. During selection, you should assess skills and the motivation to work with children and young people. Pre-appointment checks should cover Identity verification, the right to work in the UK, and relevant professional qualifications, and registration & health checks may also be necessary. Recruiters should undergo safer recruitment training where possible, and at least one-panel member conducting interviews should have completed such training, following best practice For a deep dive into the Safer Recruitment requirements, in line with statutory guidance, book your space now on our open course - https://lnkd.in/ebFpqt_z

There’s much to be said about a name so we are very intentional about the names we call ourselves and the words we use. At MANAWISE we call our Youth Work team, ‘Care Practitioners’ and this aligns to our value ‘that we care professionally’. In practice, ‘Caring’ is often seen as the antithesis of ‘Professionalism’ but it can’t be further from the truth. To care excellently or to be a leading professional you need the other. And we are so fortunate to have a team that are focused on this recipe. With this lens, we aim to align the principles of ‘care’ and rapport building with evidence based frameworks, and help our Care Practitioners to have the tools and supports they need to provide the best care for our young people who need it most. #MANAWISE #CarePracs #CareProfessionally #frontlineheroes 🛶✈️🚀
Youth Workers are the face of our sector. They are the ones who walk beside our vulnerable young people in care daily. They journey through the highs and the lows of a young person finding their feet in life - safety, belonging, value, validation. Youth work requires the ability to build rapport. But rapport is NOT enough. Youth workers must also work within professional and legal boundaries. They must have a clinical framework through which they build with, report on, and support their young people. Much of this is based on the strengths of the child, as well as understanding other factors such as trauma in their lives. Induction is a chance to cover some key elements of practice, of who we are, and where the Youth Workers are at in the professional journies. Here's a quick look behind the scenes. #BlueWaka #InductionSession #PeopleAtTheCore 🛶✈️🚀 Peter Kaituu Azera Saipaia

🔍 Today, Anglicare Australia unveils the stark reality of our job market in the annual Jobs Availability Snapshot. Shockingly, for every entry-level job, 26 people (27 in QLD) are left out of the workforce, with alarming figures reaching 66 in the Northern Territory and 43 in Tasmania. While overall unemployment has decreased, the number of long-term unemployed Australians remains unchanged. Anglicare Australia’s Executive Director Kasy Chambers emphasises systemic failure, particularly for those with disabilities, incomplete education, or older workers. The Snapshot highlights the pressing need for an overhaul of the employment services system, focusing on creating entry-level opportunities in growing sectors like aged and disability care. Together, let's work towards a more equitable and inclusive job market for all. #JobsSnapshot #UnemploymentReality #AnglicareAustralia
