We are proud to announce the McKinsey Health Institute has joined a formal collaboration with the World Economic Forum's Healthy Workforces initiative, committing to achieve healthier, happier workforces around the globe and improve the holistic health of employees, their families, and their communities. The Healthy Workforces Initiative empowers organizations and communities to prioritize and support physical and mental health in the workplace, encouraging a more productive, resilient, and healthy global workforce. Our research has quantified the major potential health and economic opportunity of investing in employee health — a $3.7 to $11.7 trillion opportunity globally. As part of the initiative, we will help raise awareness and deepen collective understanding of the importance of healthy workforces, and promote an evidence-based approach to helping more employees — and by extension, society — to achieve optimal health. Accelerating Scope 3 Action | TEDx Speaker | Podcast Host | Top 1% most cited social scientist worldwide | I equip global corporations with effective stakeholder collective action tools to accelerate progress on Scope 3
I often talk about how 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 (if not an obligation) to reduce health disparities. Unfortunately, often workplaces increase health disparities by focusing on the individual being 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐥𝐲 responsible for their well-being. Yes we all have a role to play in our own health. But equal access to affordable, culturally appropriate, and bias-free healthcare is not a reality in the US. When you tell an employee to go fix themselves you are setting them up to fail. Employers should care because our health impacts the way we show up at work. And our work impacts our health. It costs companies more when they don't care and employees are 𝐮𝐧𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞. Instead workplaces can be a place where employees are given the support they need to look after themselves through flexible work hours and habit formation partners. Workplaces can support health equity through fair and transparent pay and promotion practices, which can reduce burnout. I am excited to see this new guide from the American Heart Association, SHRM and Deloitte. https://lnkd.in/gq7pa3rn And if you want to learn more about creating a thriving workplace culture for all, please register for my webinar on November 7th. On Election Day, you also have a 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 about how you support your employees. https://lnkd.in/gTzhNBqG #hr, #change, #culture, #leadership #behavioralscience #employeeengagement #organizationaldevelopment #inclusion
