Heads up!!! The Clinical Trial Academy (CTA) is now accepting applications for our upcoming Fall 2024 Clinical Research Coordinator Foundations Course! If you are looking for a meaningful job that is very rewarding and pays well, consider entering the clinical research workforce! The CTA provides entry-level CRC training free of charge! We only require you to: 🎓 Have a GED or be a high school graduate 📍Reside in West Texas or Southern New Mexico ⭐Be 18 years or older ✏️Complete the training within 1 year of enrolling CRC Training consists of one mandatory lecture every Wednesday from 6 - 7:30 pm from Oct. 2 - Dec. 4 offered as a hybrid class and the completion of online modules relating to the lecture given each week for certification. Some recent and past graduates have started a job or apprenticeship since graduating to gain critical on-the-job experience! 🎓💼 This training is made possible through a partnership with ACRP - Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Look at this amazing story! The lead singer of the rock band The Alarm, Mike Peters, is in remission for a fast-growing lymphoma called Richter's Syndrome after enrolling in an NHS drug trial! Richter's Syndrome is a complication of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia or Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma into a more aggressive and malignant disease. Mike was first diagnosed with CLL when he was 36 years old and before departing for his US tour in April he discovered a lump in his neck. Soon after he went to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester, England to participate in a clinical trial testing the acalabrutinib therapy along with chemotherapy, previously approved for CLL but not for Richter's Syndrome. The 65-year-old singer is now in remission after the trial and states "Having complete remission thanks to this trial has been incredible". The MCA's Clinical Trial Program is participating in El Paso Giving Day! We're raising funds to support our mission to tackle regional healthcare disparities by expanding and diversifying the clinical research workforce. The CTA program provides tuition-free, skill-based certificates in clinical research, on-the-job training, consulting, site startup assistance, and ongoing site support. In the past 3 years, the CTA program has trained 326 individuals. Additionally, 14 apprenticeships at local investigator sites have been provided!
