Do we need to develop our communities? Are we ready yet? In my country, Sudan, people suffer from the heavy burden of human conflicts in its ugliest form; they have been engaged in war since the 15th of April. We need the concepts and skills of community development to be understood and believed in by our people for more collaboration, coalition, diversity acceptance, development engagement, and, more importantly, acceptance of differences. I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with EGYPTAIR during a recent transit in Cairo International Airport. After landing at 11 am with a connecting flight scheduled for 18 hours later, I was shocked to discover that many Sudanese passport holders were not being provided with the hotel accommodation voucher they were entitled to for such a long layover. To ensure I had a place to rest during the transit, I proactively reached out to the EgyptAir agency in Dar es Salaam, who assured me that a voucher would be provided. With this confirmation, I proceeded to confirm my accommodation and made my way to the airport's accommodation office upon arrival in Cairo. What followed was an ordeal that left me feeling exhausted, frustrated, and deeply disheartened. I, along with other Sudanese families, including elderly individuals and children, were made to wait for over 3 hours without any information or assistance. When I approached an airline employee for clarification, I was informed that no rooms would be available until 10 pm. And at 10 pm they told us they'll not provide us with any accommodation! Despite explaining that I had been sleep deprived for two days due to an early morning flight and subsequent journey to the airport, the employee's response was callous and dismissive. The situation was made even more distressing when individuals from other nationalities were promptly provided with accommodation, while we were continuously told to wait. As the hours passed, more African passengers faced similar challenges, with some not even having a place to sit. The treatment we received was deplorable, marked by disrespect, yelling, and a complete lack of empathy. It was evident that there were available rooms, yet we were denied access as if we were a burden. After a long and arduous struggle, I finally reached my destination only to discover that my luggage had been damaged in transit. The entire experience left me deeply dissatisfied and disillusioned with EgyptAir. This incident not only reflects poorly on the airline's customer service and treatment of passengers but also raises serious concerns about their commitment to upholding basic rights and standards. It is crucial for airlines to prioritize the well-being and comfort of all passengers, regardless of their nationality. #EgyptAir #PassengerExperience #CustomerService #Disappointed

I recently participated in a highly informative course on disease elimination and eradication, at The University of Global Health Equity #UGHE in Rwanda. The course ran online from the 2nd of May to the 2nd of June followed by in-person sessions from June 2nd to 12th, 2024, in Kigali, Rwanda. This course is sponsored by #TheCarterCenter and Global Intitute For Disease Elimination #GLIDE as well as University of Global Health Equity #UGHE. The collaborative and dynamic group environment and the diversity of knowledge, skills and strategic thinking of the group enriched the learning experience. Our team achieved a commendable third place out of eight in the strategic planning competition. Our project aimed to reduce the incidence and prevalence of urogenital schistosomiasis by addressing FGM in the White Nile State through an integrated approach involving community engagement, women’s empowerment, advocacy, governmental commitment, increased public awareness, and health system strengthening. This multidisciplinary strategy highlights the importance of comprehensive interventions in tackling complex public health challenges. #UGHE #TheCarterCenter #GLIDE #SaveSudan
