Yesterday 8th of March 2024 was International Women's Day, you might ask yourselves what makes a women, is it the pretty dress, is it the hair you wear to make you stand out from the rest? In today's society we ought to ask ourselves what makes, distinctively separates and differentiates us from the rest, what makes you different than the next woman. Simple, your outlook on the world, how you look and view yourself will always set you apart from the rest. The question is as a women honoring, acknowledging and celebrating International Women's Day; what does redefining the definition of what and who a woman is mean to you?before you answer it should actually mean a lot to you because how they perceive, receive and view you is how you carry yourself.
In its most simple terms the world and society will always be a reflective and direct translation on how we ourselves perceive the world. You create your own furture, own narrative and own world that could never have been truer than before. The beliefs, rules and standards we upload somebody created them for us, we are a direct manifestation of our fore fathers. They dreamt of the world we are creating and living in the difference is we are part of that world, lucky and fortunate enough to create and live in our own.
In today's society what defines a women shouldn't be limited to how we look, dress, feel and who we in intimate relationships with. I know a woman who wears the pants, takes all the household decisions and takes care of all the bills not because it is part of a gender role because that woman is inspired, driven and passionate about making things better for herself and those around her. I know that she takes pride on how she can be vulnerable at times but mostly want to prove her place in this world, her community and in her relationships.
From the beginning of time a woman named Eve ate the apple 🍎and the labeling, name calling and shaming became the defining of what a woman is, since then they try pain us as "rotten, undisciplined, irrational, emotional and unruly" so many unpleasant things are said about women. In today's society you claim a position better than your peers you had to have "slept your way up" you own the latest trendy item of clothing or bag "slept your way up" as a woman you could not have afforded it on your own, unfortunately that's what we think of women in today's society we too stuck up, prideful, jealous and envious to realize a woman can be all she sets her mind to.
On the contrary I choose to be oblivious to what they say about us women, from the beginning of history, we women were made scapegoats and always took the blame, shame, suffering, pain and struggles. We were made to be "strong" if only we put up with mediocrity, accept the blame and consequences that come with it.
but now is the time to redefine what a woman is and strength is?as a woman strength, tenacity and resilience will always be our greatest inheritance, part of our history and future.
