[Applications is extended to 15 March 2024] 10th Cell Biology Course The 10th HKU-Pasteur Cell Biology Course will focus on the great potential of cell biology, the discipline that investigates the organizing principles of cells, to contribute to many areas of societal needs, as we go beyond the interactions of components within a single level of biological organization. Lectures will highlight the integrated approach, spanning biology, chemistry, physics, and imaging, to interrogate these core principles (cell division, intracellular transport, organelles, cell migration, cancer….) in mechanistic fashion by drawing parallels between unicellular organisms, such as yeast, and multicellular organisms, such as plants and animals.Have a look at the detailed program of the Cell Biology Course here. Open to postgraduate students, MD, DVM, postdoctoral fellows and young scientists from Hong Kong and overseas. The course (MMPH6174) is included in the coursework curriculum for research postgraduate studies of the University of Hong Kong. Registration fees (HKD 2,000, non refundable) include accommodation (on sharing twin basis for overseas participants) and food (lunch and coffee breaks). A limited number of travel grants will be awarded. Please return the completed form, including 1-2 letters of recommendation to [email protected] Refer to the link below for more information: https://lnkd.in/gBCbh6ED

Nicolo de Groot, professor of High Energy Physics at Radboud University, receives a Demonstrator Grant from the NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek). He will receive the grant together with Prof. Julia Even from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen for their research project 'A Pre-enricher for heavy calcium isotopes'. With the grant, worth 166,000 euros, the research team wants to develop a new method for enriching heavy calcium isotopes. Nicolo de Groot: 'Developing this new method will make it easier to produce heavy calcium isotopes within Europe. We can then continue to use the heavy calcium isotopes for scientific research and medical applications. In addition, the costs for heavy calcium isotopes are lower, and production costs less energy.' Read more 👇 : https://lnkd.in/eiER3gBz #calcium #demonstrator #grant #radboudscience IMAPP research

🔬 Exciting Opportunity for Academic Leaders to get started in Cryo-EM 🔬 Electron cryo-microscopy (cryo-EM) is a cutting-edge technique that unravels the intricacies of biomolecules and nanomaterials without the constraints of traditional crystallization methods. By freezing samples in their native states, cryo-EM reveals details that were once beyond reach. However, we recognize the financial challenges that can hinder the adoption of this cutting-edge technology. To pave the way for academic leaders eager to explore the realm of cryo-EM, we are thrilled to introduce the LUCID scheme at the University of Bristol. What's the LUCID scheme all about? Under this scheme, we are offering a limited number of free cryo-EM sessions to academic leaders within the GW4 region. If you're affiliated with the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, or Exeter, you're eligible to take part. Our mission is simple: to empower researchers who are keen to integrate cryo-EM into their projects but lack the initial data required to demonstrate their feasibility for future grant applications. Apply now to embark on your cryo-EM journey with the University of Bristol's LUCID scheme. For more information and application details, visit our website: https://lnkd.in/emgGT9kn. Don't miss out on this chance to dive into the realm of cryo-EM. #CryoEM #structuralbiology #biotechnology #pharmacology #nanomaterials #nanotechnology #GW4 #universityofbristol #universityofexeter #universityofbath #cardiffuniversity #scienceandtechnology #researchanddevelopment
