Few things can shake you up like watching your parents age. Talk about a dichotomy of emotion. Hate seeing them struggle and at the same time love having them in your life as long as possible. It is the neurological disorders that throw me. The fact that they work hard, help others and overall lead good lives and then their reward is tremors, limitations and pain. My middle school teacher was the first to tell me this line - life isn't fair. For those of you considering a career change, take a long look at the #neurology space. Our lifespan is not the main focus. It is the desire to live longer, better. Some would say, what good is living to 90 if you are immobile, cannot remember your family's names or constantly battling with your brain. Love seeing companies pursue improved geriatric livelihood. One to note is NeuroOne Medical Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: NMTC). Our office has been a fan of Dave Rosa for many years. They are showing considerable progress with epilepsy, Parkinson's and other neurological disorders. For investors looking for an area to explore, there is one thing that is for sure. The population is going to continue to age. Neurological advancements will have ripples of effects. Less falls, safer drivers, less need for extended care and more enjoyment for families. Would love to add anyone to the fight that feel strongly about this area. #medtech

Matt Kaufman, thank you for another thought-provoking post (poignant as well). Having parents, in-laws, family members, friends and mentors reach their 80s and 90s certainly elicits a dichotomy of emotions. ESPN2 ran the "Speech" last night by Jim Valvano and some of the background story behind the Jimmy V Foundation. Seeing that and some of the progress in cancer research since ($350 million donated since 1993 by this foundation alone) was uplifting. It is great to see NeuroOne focus on Neurological disorders. Thanks for helping champion it. As Jimmy V said, "Don't Give Up. Don't Ever Give Up".

I've also recently had the pleasure of getting to know Henry O'Connell and Canary Speech who is using AI to power early detection of neurological disorders via simple voice analysis, which could bring more patients the chance at early intervention and empower providers to better track patient progression.

A debilitating family disease. Caregivers tend to have as many health problems as the people they try to care for due to stress and several other quality of life factors. From mechanical and drug breakthroughs to psychedelic treatments, the future is promising. What do we have to lose going from least invasive with fewest side effect, to most invasive? Anything beats the status quo of being "lost" all time.

Agree with all of this. Longevity in and of itself is not the goal. Quality of life, cognizance, mobility, cognitive abilities and independence are all of equal (or not greater) importance.
