⚡️ Quantum Computing just got a new boost ⚡️ I'm super proud for our portfolio company Kipu Quantum for raising a €10.5m seed round from HV Capital and DTCF | DeepTech & Climate Fonds, along with existing investors Entrada Ventures, Quantonation, and us (First Momentum Ventures), plus new joiners Onsight Ventures and QAI Ventures 🎉 It is fascinating what Enrique Solano, Tobias, and Daniel Volz are on to. VCs like to talk about how transformative their investments are, but Kipu Quantum is really building the foundation that will unlock technological advances we can't yet comprehend. Quantum computers are still more than ten years away from solving meaningful problems with standard approaches. However, Kipu Quantum develops compressed algorithms that allow industrial customers like BASF to run highly complex processes on existing quantum hardware. Using a case-specific approach, the Kipu Quantum team also set a new performance world record for protein folding, beating the previous record by IBM, who, along with PASQAL and QuEra Computing Inc., is one of Kipu Quantum’s hardware partners. Our portfolio company, C12 announced today the closing of its second financing round of €18 million. The round was led by new and existing investors, Varsity, Verve Ventures and the European Investment Bank (EIB) and included historical investors 360 Capital, Bpifrance Digital Venture and BNP Paribas Développement. Congratulations to co-founders Pierre Desjardins and Matthieu Desjardins and the entire C12 team! Launched in 2020 by the Desjardins brothers, C12 is a pioneer in the development of quantum computers capable of tackling immensely complex computational tasks beyond the reach of today's most powerful supercomputers. Using carbon nanotubes as the building blocks of its quantum processor, C12 introduces an ultra-pure material that minimizes errors and dramatically improves qubit quality. This new round of financing will allow C12 to accelerate its R&D work to achieve a world-first that enables scalability: the first high-fidelity quantum operation on two distant spin qubits connected by a communication bus. We were pleased to welcome Shadow Defra Minister, Daniel Zeichner, for a site visit at Molten Ventures-backed Riverlane. Riverlane is an innovative scale-up firm working on a critical challenge for quantum computing - Quantum Error Correction. Molten's support for Riverlane has been used to accelerate the development of Deltaflow.OS, Riverlane's operating system for error-corrected quantum computing. Achieving reliable error correction is the defining technical challenge for quantum computing to unlock its transformative potential. Riverlane is just one of over 1,000 promising tech scale-ups across the UK that have been supported by VCTs. The UK's tech sector is now the largest in Europe and the third largest globally, thanks in part to the valuable role VCTs play in funding innovative companies. #venturecapital #scaleup #tech #quantumcomputing

The future of quantum is closer than ever! We’re so pleased to share that we have raised £7M in a round led by Amadeus Capital Partners, IQ Capital and Expeditions Fund, with increased commitment from Seed investors Ahren Innovation Capital; Seraphim Space ; University of Cambridge and Martlet Capital. New investors joining the round include Presidio Ventures backed by Sumitomo Corporation, #NSSIF, and Deeptech Labs. To solve the truly hard problems and reach quantum computing’s full potential, we need at least 1,000X the number of qubits working together. Nu Quantum is pioneering the development of scalable quantum networking, essential to delivering useful quantum computing and unlocking the full spectrum of applications that will have a transformative impact on society.  This new funding follows a £2.1M seed round completed in September 2020, which jump-started the company’s significant expansion and ongoing recruitment activity. It will also deepen key partnerships with academia and corporations and accelerate the availability of robust and deployable systems. New investors include Presidio Ventures, the National Security Strategic Investment Fund, and Deeptech Labs. Nu Quantum pioneers scalable quantum networking, crucial for practical quantum computing and its transformative applications. Their Quantum Networking Unit (QNU) interconnects Quantum Processing Units (QPU) to build more powerful quantum computers. This funding enhances partnerships, accelerates system availability, and advances their quantum networking infrastructure.
