There are a handful of brands out there in the world that are so powerful, that people will wear the logo to let people know they are 'in the club'. It is normal to see people wear Harley Davidson t-shirts, BMW baseball caps, and Apple icons on backpacks. Yet, how much consideration do we give to what your business' brand is worth and what value the market places on it. While it is almost impossible to quantify exactly what a brand is worth in a numerical sense, most of us know which brands have 'equity' in the market. Then from there, we will probably agree that this equity has been built on a few consistent themes. We at Felix believe these are; a concise and transparent offering to the market, a reliable product or service and a strong belief in who they want as customers. Thank you for reading and we hope you have a prosperous year in 2024. Wayne Musster GAICDPaul Rofe #brandawareness #southaustralia

Nike, the giant fashion retailer that built one of the world's most valuable brands, has stumbled. Pursuing "digital revolution" and edgy cultural trends, it lost touch with consumers that liked seeing their product in bricks-and-mortar stores and wanted to try them out on the streets. If you think this post is about shoes, you haven't been paying attention. This post is about having a passion for your #customers and your #products. It's about putting them in front of what cultural elites and political leaders tell you is inevitable. It's about remembering why you got into your business in the first place, and who helps you be successful. That includes retailers that sell and service your product. That includes customers that choose your product based on what they want it to do, not what influencers or regulators or technology gurus post on social media. It would be acceptable to me if everyone in the fashion industry ignored this article, and every executive in the auto industry read it. Then the alcoholic beverage industry, then the tech industry. The lessons here go far beyond shoes. Pay attention to your customers, and the people that sell your product--or watch your sales go "swoosh." #automotive #autodealers #retailers #franchising #francisees #ford #generalmotors #chrysler #tesla #EPA MICHIGAN AUTOMOBILE DEALERS ASSOCIATION Ohio Automobile Dealers Association National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) https://lnkd.in/evnSPa3r

Did you know that in 1984 the N.B.A. banned the original Air Jordan shoes? It's true! Read on for the rest of the story. Back then there was a league rule that said the sneakers players wore in games had to be at least 51% white. Non-compliance with this rule resulted in a painful $5,000 per occurrence fine. This was sufficient to deter most from even questioning the rule, let alone violating it. But, the folks at Nike saw it as an opportunity. See, Michael Jordan was well known as a college player at the University of North Carolina and had been the third overall pick in that year's N.B.A. draft. As such, they were certain he would get much publicity in the professional game. Nike, which was founded in 1971, had gone public in 1980 but was struggling to gain the traction they wanted. In a bold and unprecedented move, they spent nearly all of that year's marketing budget on signing Jordan to an endorsement deal for a new basketball shoe named for him. Part of that deal was Jordan wearing those shoes in games - even though they were out of compliance with the 'at least 51% white' rule. By wearing them in a game, MJ was assessed the $5,000 fine each time. For the 82 game season, the fines totaled $410,000! And, per their endorsement contract, Nike paid those fines. The even ran an ad campaign around it called Banned. (see the video in the c@mments) How did breaking the rules work out for Nike and Jordan? Jordan became the NBA Rookie of the year and Nike sold over $126 million of his shoe. Last year, the entire Jordan brand sold over $6 billion and the association has earned MJ over $1.5 billion in lifetime royalties. 😲 I'd call that a successful collaboration, wouldn't you? Speaking of successful collaborations, I am pleased to be co-hosting a webinar with Rob Deptford on May 23rd at Noon US Eastern time. Titled, YouTube Automated Prospecting, it may violate what you believe to be 'the rules' of how to grow your company. (l*nk bee low) But, sometimes the rules NEED to be broken, don't they? 😊 #FreakingBrilliant #Creativity #Innovation #Success

Turns out Deion Sanders is more than just a college football 🏈 Coach. His hype man persona also sells a lot of sunglasses. And he knows it. In the last 2 days leading up to the Colorado U game, for Blenders Eyewear he’s: - Sparked a national news story about them by not taking them off during interviews. - Said he sold $1.2M worth yesterday. - Mentioned them multiple times on College Game Day and got a live plug by The Rock. And the Blenders Eyewear website immediately was updated to take PreSale orders. This agility to capture organic eyeballs and traffic is what is becoming the norm of the effects of #mediamonitoring, #socialanalytics and virality. And with #BlendersEyewear having 617.4K website visits with 86 % being mobile (i.e., folks searching in real-time as Deion was mentioning the brand on live tv) 📺, again, this will continually become the new norm. We are in the age of the Agile whereas it’s not about a brand dictating a rush sales moment. It’s about how Influence can lead to audience #virality and if you’re a brand, you better be ready!

melin Brilliant. I didn’t know I needed the most premium headwear in the world. I’m bald, I should care this much. Their catalog showed up today. This is the inside cover. Another example of going deep in a niche by creating a premium status-symbol brand. Do we really need micro fleece lined water repellent baseball caps? Apparently we do. $79. For a baseball cap. And they are selling them like crazy. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good cap. But until this catalog showed up with models in exotic places I can’t afford to visit, it would never occur to me to spend $79 on a lid. But if my friends are impressed with my perfectly melin-covered noggin, it seems a small price to pay. Reminder: Know your audience. Sell premium and deliver or, Sell budget and make it up in volume. Very hard to straddle the middle. I think I’d like my melon under a melin. Maybe next year.

In the dynamic interplay between the worlds of sports and fashion, few have left an indelible mark as distinctly as legends like George Best and David Beckham. Best, with his flamboyant style and charisma, not only dazzled on the football pitch but also set trends off it, becoming the quintessential fashion-forward sportsman of his era. Beckham, following in those pioneering footsteps, transcended his sport to become a global fashion icon, influencing trends and inspiring collaborations between sports and luxury fashion brands. These luminaries exemplified how sports personalities could shape global fashion sensibilities, paving the way for the next generation of athletes. Stateside, the influence of sportsmen on fashion trends takes on a distinct flavour, especially in the realm of accessories like sunglasses. Their off-field appearances in tailored suits and luxury brands redefine masculinity and style, inspiring fans to blend sportiness with elegance. Partnerships with fashion labels further cement their role as trendsetters in the fashion world. The 58th Superbowl was perhaps the most celebrity filled sports event of all, both on and off the field. The Super Bowl is over. Soon jewelry companies will bid for their chance to make the highly anticipated Super Bowl ring. Each will showcase their thoughtful and intricate designs to the winning team. According to Sneha Singh’s article, “How Much Is A Super Bowl Ring Worth?,” “Each ring can cost anywhere from $30,000 to $50,000, of which $5,000 is contributed by the NFL for each ring.” https://lnkd.in/epruqGKH However, as very rare sports memorabilia, their value continues to increase over time. For example, Lawrence Taylors’ Super Bowl XXV ring sold for $230,401 at auction in 2012. $5.2B 💸💰💲🤑🫰 That's how much Magic Johnson lost by: 1. Listening to the wrong advisor. 2. Focusing on the immediate payout. When Magic partnered with Converse in 1979, he made $100,000. No stock options. No royalties. Nike offered him naming rights, 100,000 shares of stock, and $1 for every shoe. At $.18 a share that stock was only worth $18,000 at the time. Today it would be worth over $5.2B. His advisor pushed him to Converse 🏀👟 Seemed smart at the time 🏆 Wrong move 👎🙅♂️🚫 Two lessons from Magic 🪄✨ 1. Wise counsel is vital to success. 2. Delay gratification. Focus long-term. What's the best investment you've made? What's one you wish you'd made? Share below 👇👇 And whatever you do today, remember these two lessons.
