Hosting opening and closing ceremonies for a sporting event such as the Olympic Games can have both pros and cons. Here are a few to consider: Pros: 1. **Create a memorable experience**: Opening and closing ceremonies can set the tone for the entire event and create a memorable experience for attendees. 2. **Build excitement**: Ceremonies can build excitement and anticipation, generating buzz and interest in the event. 3. **Showcase talent**: They provide an opportunity to showcase local talent, culture, and creativity to a wider audience. 4. **Promote unity**: Ceremonies can promote unity and a sense of community among attendees, creating a shared experience. 5. **Celebrate achievements**: Closing ceremonies can be a way to celebrate the achievements and successes of the event, participants, and organizers. Cons: 1. **Cost**: Hosting elaborate opening and closing ceremonies can be expensive, requiring significant financial resources. 2. **Logistics**: Planning and executing ceremonies can be complex and time-consuming, requiring coordination of various elements like performers, equipment, logistics and security. 3. **Attendee engagement**: Depending on the length and format of the ceremonies, some attendees may find them tedious or lose interest, affecting engagement. 4. **Weather dependency**: Outdoor ceremonies are subject to weather conditions, which can impact the experience and logistics. 5. **Resource allocation**: Resources spent on ceremonies may detract from other important aspects of the event, such as programming, facilities, or services. Considering these pros and cons can help in deciding what to consider in order to host an opening and closing ceremonies aligning with the overall goals and priorities of the sporting event.

In the world of major sports events, is there still a value in delivering a multi-million pound Opening Ceremony. Have we lost sight of the purpose of these events and is it time for LOCs to be bold and have a rethink? With event organisers looking at new financially sustainable models and declining linear broadcast numbers, you have to question if a 90-minute show is still the way forward. I'd be interested in hearing about ways in which LOCs adopt a digital first approach to showcasing the culture and art of a host city in a more cost effective and impactful way. #majorevents #olympics #commonwealthgames #IOC #commonwealthgamesfederation

Stadiums, Seated or Extended. By seated stadiums, I refer to those ancient stadiums designed for spectators to sit and watch athletes compete, such as the Colosseum in Rome built in 72 AD. However, time passes, and technology advances. The first live broadcast of a sporting event occurred at the 1936 Olympic Games. Since then, broadcasting companies continue to fill venues with cables and position cameras wherever they can. Except in those stadiums that are already designed or have been modified so that cameras occupy strategic positions and have all the facilities for their work. These broadcasting-adapted stadiums belong to the "new" generation of stadiums that allow an extended experience, as proposed by LALIGA. If you're curious to learn about LALIGA's extended stadium concept, you can consult our TV Regulations, where we explain in great detail how we achieve making any LALIGA match appear as if it were recorded in a single stadium. https://lnkd.in/dz7ic_XV A significant portion of all those infrastructures detailed in the regulations is implemented by our #engineering department Venue Solutions. #venue #stadium #infrastructure #camera

You could drive to see it and you probably still should BUT what if you wanted a sneak peek to make sure the drive would be worth it? 😉 😎 #digitalamarketing #digitaladvertising #virtualtour #virtualtours #businessowners #digitaltwin #digitaltwintechnology #showcasepropertiesrealestate #technology https://lnkd.in/gGZRaMp6

It’s been another great article to work on with MONDO | STADIA, shining a spotlight on the latest high-tech arena to open in the UK with Co-op Live and discussing some of the innovative ways Oak View Group and partners like Elavon Europe are helping to transform the fan experience. In a climate where every expense is framed within a cost-of-living crisis, it’s no longer just about competing with other venues but any kind of vertical that seeks to entertain. Everything from Netflix to PlayStation is a potential competitor. To get people into stadiums and arenas today requires the most attractive propositions and a level of service that meets the modern consumer’s expectations. If they are only going to make one big spend each month, how do you convince them it should be with you…?
