Research shows that independent working arrangements increase the labor force for women, which is big for nursing — a field dominated by women. CareRev’s recent webinar, The Right to Work as an Independent Nurse is a Fight for Equality, shares how CareRev is helping nurses achieve the flexibility and independence they deserve. I was a moderator on CareRev’s webinar, The Right to Work as an Independent Nurse is a Fight for Equality, alongside Liya Palagashvili, and Sarah Carter, RN. We had a great discussion about why preventing nurses, which is a field primarily made up of women, from working as independent professionals is an irresponsible action to take amid a workforce crisis. Watch it here, and let me know what you think: https://lnkd.in/gYfSirSN.

"How to Retain Your Women Healthcare Workers: Creating Gender Equity and a Bright Future for All Women in Healthcare" Kickstart your time at the Healthcare Burnout Symposium, NOV 1-3 in NYC, with one of our pre-conference workshops. Today's highlighted workshop is presented by Tammie Chang, MD, Co-Founder of Pink Coat, MD Women and individuals who identify as female comprise 80% of healthcare workers today and yet are less than 20% of senior leaders in healthcare. A recent study by Sinsky et al in 2021 (Mayo Clinic Proceedings) showed that 2 in 5 nurses and 1 in 5 physicians plan to quit their practice altogether within the next 2 years due to burnout. Rapid and innovative interventions are urgently needed to address the workplace factors and inequities driving healthcare’s massive hemorrhage of women healthcare workers. This workshop will: - Define the current state of women in healthcare – Clinical (nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, allied health, therapists, social workers) and Non-Clinical healthcare workers. - Review the evidence-based approaches to retaining and creating structural gender equity for women healthcare workers. - Identify strategies and concrete action steps for how to approach creating structural gender equity for women in healthcare within your own organization. - Demonstrate one evidence-based initiative for your organization that you can rapidly and successfully implement within the next year. I make healthcare better. Physician-entrepreneur building happy healthcare teams and innovative care models to deliver exceptional patient care in areas of need. CEO Pazona MD Urology and VirtuCare
Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms in healthcare. 💕 👩⚕️ I applaud all of you for not only providing care to your family and loved ones, but for the care you deliver to patients. Women wear many hats in our healthcare system. Yet, they are often expected to be the primary caregiver in the home. Arguably, their most important role. I'm grateful that with Pazona MD Urology and VirtuCare I work alongside incredible moms (too many to list). I'm constantly amazed by how these exceptional women juggle their multiple responsibilities. Men, we need to step up our support of our women in healthcare. Part-time work should be encouraged, not looked down upon. Flexible schedule, remote positions should be embraced. Equal pay should be the norm, not the exception. Women are the backbone of the house. I truly believe that women are the backbone of healthcare. Women entrepreneurs will be the driving force behind fixing our broken healthcare system. Healthcare needs more kindness, empathy, and innovation. We need a little bit less ego and profits at all costs. Essentially, our system needs some moms, to get everyone in line. #happymothersday #womeninhealthcare #femalephysicians #healthcare #femaleentrepreneurs

In our latest national survey, we examined the glaring lack of trust many adults have in provider organizations. While the issue is prevalent in most every demographic we tested, women were consistently one of, if not the, least trusting groups. This is a keen political and marketplace vulnerability for providers to address.
