I pulled a prank on a friend in high school. Simple, but effective....👇 ➡ His locker was next to mine. ➡ Bottom of his locker was a MESS. ➡ Papers & random things everywhere. I snuck a few vegetables beneath those papers. I wanted to see if he would notice. Days went by. Weeks went by. The smell got worse. ***(I realized at this point...I should have thought about this prank more...his locker being right next to mine meant that I had to endure the smell too)*** 🔵 Too late to turn back now. 🔵 I was enjoying his confusion of why it smelled so much. 🔵 End of the year comes up...we are cleaning out our lockers. There they were. 2 veggies, shriveled up. (One was a carrot, I can't remember the other veggie) He started laughing when he found it why they were there. ----- 👉 Your bad money choices don't have a smell to them... 👉 Even if they did, you could ignore them and move on with life... 👉 But ignoring your finances won't be as funny as a shriveled up carrot... 3 ideas to keep the stank away: 1️⃣ CHECK YOUR INVESTMENT ACCOUNTS Is the money ACTUALLY invested, or is it sitting in cash? Opening a Roth IRA is good. INVESTING the actual money is better...otherwise, your money just sits there, slowly rotting at the bottom of your locker. 2️⃣ SWITCH BANKS Utilize a HIGH-YIELD SAVINGS ACCOUNT (HYSA). If you have $100K in savings, a low interest rate makes you $20/yr in interest...HYSA can make you $4K-$5K/YEAR at current interest rates. That'd help you afford more veggies! 3️⃣ GET OUT OF TARGET-DATE FUNDS (TDF) IN YOUR 401K Yes, it's an easy way to "set it and forget it." But don't be like me in high school. I was too conservative and stopped at 2 veggies. I could have added way more over the weeks/months. Would have made the joke funnier if he had a whole pot roast in his locker by graduation. TDFs are too conservative early on in your investing career. Alright...now....whose making pot roast for dinner tonight? #Sales #FinancialPlanning #Pranks *Not investment advice.
