🐶 It’s Take Your Dog to Work Day We know that dogs are good for human happiness, health and social interactions. In fact: • The presence of dogs increases the number and length of people’s conversations with others in the community. • Pet owners are significantly more likely to form friendships in their neighborhood than non-pet owners. • Pet owners tend to visit doctors less often. In a survey by our CESAR® brand (http://ms.spr.ly/6045Y2vBJ), 89% of pet owners said it’s important for them to continue spending time with pets during the workday. And we’ve been making this happen for 15 years. Looking to pupgrade your workplace? Pet-friendly workspaces. I was cool pre-pandemic when it came to dogs in the workspace. Working from home since 2001 affords me the opportunity, AND pets are the best co-workers. But what if you work in an office or other building outside the home? Pet-friendly workspaces are all the rage and with good reason. I talk about how to become a pet-friendly space and some companies who are rocking it in my latest piece for Pet King Brands: Maker of ZYMOX and Oratene I know Beth Miller will have a thing or two to say about this. #contentmarketing #petfriendly

THE BENEFITS OF PETS IN THE OFFICE A recent article from business.gov.au showcased the benefits of pet-friendly workplaces. The AGHA’s office has been reaping these benefits for a few years now, and whilst AGHA’s resident dog Gizmo, an 8 year old toy Pomeranian, was unable to respond, our happy team members had nothing but praise. “He is a good stress reliever! Taking him for a walk during my break or just giving him pats and cuddles throughout the day.” - Cindy, Jnr Graphic Designer & Marketing Co-Ordinator “Having a dog in the office gives you something to look forward to. Every time you come in, Gizmo greets you and makes you feel welcome.” - Emilia, Operations Assistant Various studies have shown that having a pet in the workplace can help reduce stress levels and boost morale.[1] Harvard Business Review makes “an evidence-based case for welcoming four-legged companions as a competitive advantage”[2] in an article based on research. Studies show that welcoming pets into traditional offices has tangible benefits including increased employee commitment and career satisfaction and reduced turnover. Pet-friendly policies are perceived as evidence that a company values employee well-being so naturally job seekers prefer these workplaces. In fact, studies show that “the mere presence of animals provides employees comfort, buffers against stress, enhances work engagement, and improves work-life quality” and “increased employee sense of accomplishment, positive job attitudes, and greater mental health”.[3] There are of course many considerations when deciding to include a furry work pal, and the needs and constraints of some employees can greatly affect the ability to instigate a pet-friendly policy. Balancing the considerations of human team members and the welfare of potential pet team members, the AGHA consulted with staff before introducing their pet-friendly policy, ensuring that the workplace was suitable for pets and setting apart pet-free areas. Does your dog come to work with you? Dog ownership increased by about 24% during the pandemic, taking the total number of dogs living in the UK to around 13.5 million (at the last count). As more of us have returned to the office, many employers and HR Managers are now being asked if employees can bring their pets into the workplace with them. In their recent National Dog Survey, the Dogs Trust found that 55,000 respondents would like to take their dogs to work with them if they were allowed. There isn't actually any legal requirement in the UK for employees to be able to bring their dogs to work with them. Instead it is very much up to individual employers as to whether they think allowing dogs (or any pets) into the workplace is safe and appropriate for all employees. Some of the positives of allowing pets into the workplace include: reduced stress; improved mental health and an increase in employee interactions. However, on the flip side employers need to consider whether any employees might be allergic to dogs as well as whether they could provide too much of a distraction. An even more important factor to consider is whether your dog would actually enjoy being in a busy office all day. For example, is there somewhere quiet where they can go to rest and relax? Do you think they will get on with other office dogs? Is your office near any green spaces so that you can take them for a walk at lunchtime? Would you take your dog to work with you if you could? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. For helpful advice and tips for taking your dog into work, take a look at this useful guide from the Dogs Trust: https://lnkd.in/eh7-VGQJ #PerfectCandidateRecruitment #DogsInTheWorkplace #OfficeDog

Having a pet-friendly/ "hybrid" pet-friendly workplace can bring numerous benefits, but I will resume to just 3 of them: 1. Less Stress, More Smiles🐶😸: Pets help keep stress at bay and boost everyone's mood. 2. Increased Job Satisfaction and Employee Retention: Loving the job means loving the company—pet perks might make a big difference!✨ 3. Team Bonding👩🏼🤝👩🏻👨🏿🤝👨🏼👩🏻🤝👨🏽: Pets bring people together, sparking conversations and building stronger teams.
Today is “Take Your Dog to Work Day”. There’s a lot of evidence out there showing the benefits of human and animal interactions and we believe those benefits extend right down to when Associates are at work. For well over a decade, Mars has been implementing pet-friendly offices, where pets aren't just welcome, but are a fundamental part of our workplace culture. We've invested in office features designed with pets in mind, and where possible, include dog-walking routes, playgrounds, dog-friendly meeting rooms and activity areas. Interacting with pets has been shown to improve productivity, reduce workplace stress, keep us active and increase social interaction. Benefits extend to our four-legged friends, too. Allowing pets to spend the day with their owners, rather than alone, helps give them a more fulfilling life. Eddie and Twixie have been to the office several times. They always have fun and make me better and kinder at the same time – it’s a win-win for all! 🐶🐶🐶 We believe in the power of office dogs! If you ever visit us at the @Journi office, you’ll soon notice our furry workforce. We currently have 6 dogs running around (or chilling out at) the office. Are you wondering … … 𝘄𝗵𝘆? Well, because we love dogs. Also, because several studies have shown that pets have 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 on workplaces, among others they: ↳ Improve stress management ↳ Enhance engagement ↳ Increase productivity ↳ Boost collaboration ↳ Provide comfort … 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀? We set clear guidelines from the beginning, accessible to everyone in our company wiki, like: ✅ All dogs need to have received proper training. ✅ We make sure they get along—dog owners in our team first meet at a nearby park to see if their dog reacts well to the others. ❌ We reserve the right to uninvite a dog from the office if we notice it doesn’t feel at ease, distracts the team by barking, or doesn’t get along well with people, for instance. 💚 Dogs just create a special work atmosphere, and I’ve noticed that people are more balanced and happier around animals. My dog, Milo, accompanies me to the office every day and participates in almost all my meetings. He’s also my strictest self care officer ☝️ and makes sure I take regular breaks, go out, breathe fresh air, and get in my steps! PS: He is also an anti-allergy dog and does not lose any hair. What do you think about pets at the office? #dogs #office #mentalhealth #workplace
