This past weekend, I had the opportunity to participate in a community event with our local CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). I joined the team in May and it's been very insightful! On Saturday, we had been asked to present a table for emergency preparedness for a local senior citizen/disabilities housing development. There were three of us that presented and it was a small event, about 30-60 participants. We did things like explain the importance of an evacuation plan, a communications plan, and making sure important documents are in one central place. The residents were all super nice and I hope we get asked back again. I could have talked all day about this topic. The community would be considered some of the most vulnerable in our city, especially in an emergency situation. In speaking with some of the residents, I think they had more of an impact on me than I had on them. And it got me thinking. Every single day is like a page in a book. What are you writing in yours today? #BuildingCommunity #BuildingTogether #CommunityFirst #CreatingConnections #DisasterPreparedness #BePrepared #EmergencyPlanning #DisasterAwareness #EmpoweringCommunity

We want to know how safe you feel in the district and what your priority concerns are regarding crime and disorder in our annual community safety survey, whether it’s anti-social behaviour, vehicle crime or violent crime? While North Herts is a relatively safe place to live and is one of the lowest crime areas in Hertfordshire, local organisations work hard to keep it that way. Please complete our short survey to let us know what you think about community safety in North Herts and what our priorities should be. Your feedback helps us address local issues and helps communities feel safer. Questions in the survey include what your top three community safety concerns are, and whether you think the perception and/or fear of crime is disproportionate to actual crime levels. https://lnkd.in/eS4Var_8

Organizations in the He Sapa, like NDN Collective, are a direct result of gaps in city services. What we are seeing in Rapid City, South Dakota is the intentional criminalization, obstruction, and harassment of mutual aid efforts during extreme weather conditions. This quote is why I love doing what I get to for our industry. "CVFD's decision to adopt IROL stems from several factors. Primarily, we're facing manpower challenges amidst the rapid growth within our district. Recognizing that our current report review rate falls below optimal levels, we acknowledge the urgent need for a solution. Additionally, hearing positive feedback from vendors in our region who have collaborated with IROL in other jurisdictions solidified our confidence in this platform."
🔥🚒 We're thrilled to announce a new partnership! 🚒🔥 Central Valley Fire District, MT, is now part of the IROL family, working hand in hand towards community compliance and safety. 🤝 Nestled in the picturesque Gallatin County, just a stone's throw away from Yellowstone National Park, CVFD serves as the guardian across a sprawling 200-square-mile area. It's now been over two years since two public meetings were held in Tennant Creek to try and tackle the ongoing crime issues. Feedback from both meetings was provided to the Chief Minister’s Office in Tennant Creek on 5 July 2021 to help the government develop a new Community Safety Action Plan but, after waiting over two years, still nothing! Until there is an appropriate focus, and a full review of government funding and programs designed to intervene and stop crime before it happens, Tennant Creek and the Barkly will continue to face the same issues! At the very least how about developing a 'Whole of Government, Whole of Community - Community Safety Plan’ for Tennant Creek and each community in the Barkly region that incorporates analysis and research, identifies the underlying causes of crime, tailors solutions to specific problems and most importantly, holds everyone including government and non-government organisations accountable by continuously evaluating the effectiveness of those responses - we need a comprehensive plan with immediate solutions and over the short, medium and longer term. It’s just not good enough - residents in the Barkly deserve better.
