The future of the industry is in good hands xxx

It has been beyond a learning curve and humbling opportunity to be a part of National Council for the academic year of 2023-24. As we get closer to Pi Sigma Epsilon's annual National Conference, we are preparing to develop the 2024-25 National Council. Being the Collegiate Vice President this year taught me 3 things: 1. How does a non-profit organization operate as a business? 2. How do we ensure that all stakeholders are benefiting? How do we make difficult decisions? 3. How do we make strategic goals, planning, and indicate what is in-scope and out-of-scope? Some of the efforts that I got to work on and continuing to work on are: - The launch of PSE Academy with Chris Wooten and Carolyn Mang - Creating DEIB initiatives through in-person programming and online resources with Robert C. Webb, M.S., Ron Poff (He/Him), and Jordan Harrison - Utilizing surveys to gain a better understand of collegiate leadership - Having the opportunity to connect more with all of collegiate and members of PSE. We’re all winners no matter what 👏 From the small wins to the mammoth wins and everything in between, it’s time to start celebrating our successes! So, allow me to go first. Here are 3 wins from this month 👇 👏 I am working on prepping my 5th class for the fall (4 I have taught before, and 2 of those I revamped to hopefully be better - so this is my only new class). Once I (hopefully) finish this one, I will feel prepared for a new semester. 👏👏 I think I am finally healing from my dissertation process. I woke up the other day thinking about what types of articles I might write to share my dissertation. I am in the process of 2 very rough drafts of articles. 👏👏👏 I have a few weeks left of summer and I am ready to help people find their career super genius! First of all I want to give a resounding round of applause to all the amazing students who are being recognized with academic awards this month! High fives all around, seriously! AND let's not forget to also celebrate those students for whom school has never been an easy ride. Let's cheer for those who bravely tackle each and every word of their spelling homework with determination. Let's honor those who put in hours of effort on assignments that others finish in a fraction of the time. Let's uplift those who strategically "forget" their homework at school to avoid lengthy study sessions. To the students who are wondering what it takes to earn one of those coveted certificates, shiny plaques, or first-place medals, let me share this wisdom earned through the years: hard work is a reward in itself. So, whether you're an award recipient or one who narrowly missed the mark, keep persevering. Seek guidance from the Lord when faced with challenges that seem insurmountable, and use His strength to push through tough times without giving up. There might not be a grand ceremony for simply holding your head high when everything feels overwhelmingly difficult, but if there were, you all would be the recipients. A positive attitude is a treasure in itself. Remember, weary one, the ultimate reward we can all strive for is hearing those words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Our service to God AND others through our obedience and positive outlook is what truly matters. So, my dear children, you are on the right path. (It has taken me years to be brave enough to express this. So, my heart is begging you to be kind or quiet in your reply.)

Seeing my name on the honor roll resulted from late nights making the 11:59 PM deadline with 30 seconds left, tackling tricky problems, and sacrificing time for study sessions. Making the honor roll wasn't just about grades; it was about discipline, pushing beyond limits, and discovering hidden resilience. The feeling of validation ignited confidence that I could tackle anything I set my mind. Making the honor roll was a tapestry woven with threads of encouragement, support, and friendly competition. Ultimately, it wasn't just about achieving but the journey, the climb, the struggle, and the lessons learned. Stay tuned for the subsequent chapter presidents list.
