Celebrating a 12-year company #anniversary marks a significant #milestone that underscores the relevance and endurance of a business in a #competitive landscape. This anniversary not only highlights the company’s ability to stay #relevant through changing market dynamics but also showcases its determination to #overcome #challenges and adapt to new trends. Such a milestone is a testament to the company's #resilience and its continued #commitment to growth and innovation. The #marketsize for the #fashionlifestyle sector in Malaysia is substantial, with the #apparel market alone expected to generate about USD 5.2 billion in revenue in 2023. This sector is projected to grow at a rate exceeding 4% annually through 2027. A moment ago, a share from a celebrated Finnish brand on LinkedIn caught my attention. It includes a video of Marimekko's collection with timeless design and iconic prints, proudly showcased at Tokyo Fashion Week. This sparks a sense of satisfaction in me, due to the fact that I am witnessing the presence of normal-looking and practical clothing, highly regarded and respected, in a fashion show where the dominating players often focus on strangeness and uniqueness, to the extent that practicality and reusability are forgotten. It's a wonderful feeling to see any successful attempt to shift attention toward sustainable, high-quality things that last (sounds pretty much like traveling to the past, I know 😄). All the bling-bling created purely for attention, but not for long-term use, should be given much less credit! A side story: I own a Marimekko T-shirt bought from a flea market, probably worn for a couple of years already by previous owner(s) since it was "made in Finland", at the price equivalent to two new T-shirts from a fast fashion brand. This year marks the third year of usage, and it has no holes, stitches are in place, prints are intact, and colors are as vibrant as new! #sustainability #marimekko

Glad to share that I have completed my course on Fashion & Sustainability: Understanding Luxury Fashion in a Changing World. Through this course, I significantly deepened my understanding on the 4 sutainability agendas; social, economic, ecological & cultural, and its context. This course also broaden my perspective of how the fashion industry impacted so many aspects of our life, that sustainability is beyond our 50% organic cotton t-shirt but more about transparancy & traceability in the supply chain. I learned the importance of innovation, technology & fostering collaboration specifically for luxury brands in reducing environmental loss & creating close-loop system (circularity) within the fashion industry in general. I believe that acquiring this knowledge will be highly beneficial for me, given my extensive experience in the fashion industry and my plans to continue and advance my career in this field.
