Self-delusion drives luxury fashion and cosmetic biz Online data say global cosmetic sales in 2020 totaled US$483Bn and is expected to top US$716Bn by 2025. And the luxury fashion market being valued US$111.50Bn in 2023. Are such astounding numbers due to the multimillion marketing campaigns paid by Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Versace, Estee Lauder, L'Oreal Paris, Clinique, Lancome among others? Or is it only possible for the countless vain, shallow, superficial, gullible, self-delusional consumers who believe splurging princely sums on such goods can actually achieve the transformation shown in the collage?
