Almost a month has passed, but I still get the same thrill from the thought of having been part of an insightful panel discussion on “Building a Digital Strategy for the Humane Workplace” during The Economic Times Future Forward Philippines Summit at Fairmont Makati. I’m honored to have joined other thought leaders from various industries as we dove deep into the heart of digital integration. We discussed how to ensure technology enhances our workforce's well-being and engagement. Digital dexterity emerged as the key, enabling employees to embrace technologies and achieve better business outcomes. It's not just about tools, but a mindset shift that starts with each one of us. In our recent discourse, we explored strategies for seamless digital integration, including fostering a digital mindset, nurturing agile teams, and prioritizing change management. We highlighted the importance of safeguarding team well-being during transitions for a positive talent experience. From these conversations, key takeaways came into view. We identified the significance of a user-centric approach to drive adoption and satisfaction, ensuring smooth tool integration, implementing strong data security measures for trust, embracing iterative improvement processes, and utilizing automation and AI for efficiency gains. Given the dynamic business landscape, adaptable strategies prioritizing user needs and fostering innovation are essential for sustained success. #POWERyourFuture

Musings on my upcoming retirement... As I celebrate my 60th birthday and the year 2024 draws to a close, I reflect on the significant changes that have taken place in my life and career. This year has marked a significant milestone—the exit of my generation, the Baby Boomers, from the workforce. I will join the ranks of retirees, leaving behind the familiarity of the work environment and embarking on a new chapter in my life. Reflecting on my decades-long career, I am filled with a deep sense of pride and accomplishment. The dedication and hard work I’ve invested in my profession have significantly contributed to the growth and success of the organizations I’ve been part of. I’ve been honored to guide and nurture numerous young professionals, sharing my accumulated knowledge and wisdom. Witnessing the younger generations ascending the career ladder and eager to make their mark on the world fills me with hope and inspiration. It’s their time to shine, and I’m excited to pass the torch and watch them conquer the world. But on the other hand, the thought of leaving this all behind can be daunting. The workplace has been my second home for so long, where I’ve found purpose, camaraderie, and a sense of identity. Stepping away from that familiar environment is both exciting and unsettling. As I ponder this new chapter, I am engulfed in a whirlwind of emotions. I'm relieved at finally having the time and freedom to pursue my passions outside of work, yet I'm also apprehensive about navigating the uncharted waters of retirement. The curiosity about the future and how I will redefine myself adds a layer of intrigue to this emotional mix. I eagerly anticipate engaging in wellness activities, continuous learning, community involvement, travel, and exploration, all of which will infuse a fresh sense of purpose and fulfillment in this next phase of my life. One thing I am sure of is my readiness to welcome change. It's natural to seek comfort, resist the unknown, and cling to the familiar. However, as I’ve experienced, growth and transformation often necessitate stepping outside our comfort zones and taking risks. I hope my eagerness to embrace change inspires you to do the same in your retirement journey. Remember, change is not to be feared but to be embraced. In the next three months, I will step down and let the next generation take the lead while I embark on my journeys of discovery, transformation, and fulfillment. If there's one piece of advice I'd like to share, finding your life purpose brings out the best version of yourself.

I am happy to share some exciting news - I am embarking on a new chapter within AboitizPower and will be transitioning to a new role. After six years and nine months of fulfilling and rewarding years with this incredible organization, I am thrilled to be able to take on a new challenge and contribute to our continued success. Starting January 01, 2024, I will transition into the Chief Corporate Services Officer role within the Thermal Business Group of AboitizPower. I was reminded that Culture was like the wind - invisible, yet impactful when I attended a transformative leadership conference for our Thermal Business Unit. In Thermal, aligning our leaders and reinforcing our A 10 Behaviors is our compass to navigate this journey. Borrowing the words from a Harvard Business Review article, Culture Requires a Movement, Not a Mandate - Transforming Culture can be one of the most challenging parts of our journey, drawing out new behaviors from leaders and team members. It's not about top-down mandates; it's about the collective hearts, habits, and shared perceptions of how we do things. Our 1AP Values and A 10 Behaviors are the spine that runs through every Transformed Aboitiz Person. Behaviors are the Daily Application of Our Values -Embracing and nurturing these behaviors among our leaders is pivotal for personal growth and our team's success.
