The Good, the Bad and the Lessons: My first ever experience of internship🎢✨ I embarked on this journey in May, dedicating 3-4 hours daily to meet deadlines, a reality many interns face. Initial weeks were marked by frequent meetings and a supportive environment. However, as time went on, the professional focus seemed to blur. Meetings became sporadic, and we were expected to work amidst our college commitments. More so, the exit procedure after the internship completion was not communicated to us, leaving us in the realm of uncertainty. A month post completion of the internship on September 30, I found myself still waiting for my Letter of Recommendation and completion certificate. After multiple follow-ups, I was asked to complete another task to receive my LOR, only to find my organization account deleted before I could do so. Through this journey, I learned the importance of asking the right questions prior to starting an internship. It’s crucial to know about working hours, leaves, exit procedures, and to research well about the organization. Fast forward to today, I finally received my certificate and i’m so grateful to the organisation for shaping my research skills. To all my peers and juniors seeking internship opportunities, let my experience be a guiding light for you. Don't hesitate to ask questions and be sure to understand your responsibilities and rights fully before joining. Also, let me know how was your first internship experience and crucial questions one may ask before embarking on an internship? #internshipexperience #internshipjourney #linkedinforcreators

4 steps to turn your internship into a full-time offer: (Or a return offer for the next internship cycle) 1 — Do good work This is the foundation. Be proactive. Ask good questions. Speak up. Go beyond what’s expected. If you don't add value through your work, getting the offer will be an uphill battle. 2 — Keep track of your good work This helps you build your case. Document your accomplishments, impact on key projects, and positive feedback/recognitions. If you don’t track your contributions, you’ll struggle to remember and communicate all you’ve done. 3 — Connect with the decision makers These will be your advocates. Find ways to regularly interact with key people in your department and your projects. If the people deciding who get the offers don’t know or remember you, you’re at a disadvantage. 4 — Ask for the offer This is a crucial step that many skip. Express your interest in returning, recap your positive impact, and do so with confidence. If you don’t express your interest to return and others do, you’re giving them a leg up. — Keep in mind: A return offer isn't the outcome of a single conversation at the end of the summer. It's the outcome of all the cumulative actions you take during your internship. So start focusing on steps 1-3 from day one. They'll make step 4 a lot easier when the time comes.
