Ferris and his friends go to a high-end restaurant and give a name on the reservation list to get a table. Unfortunately, Ferris chose the ‘sausage king of Chicago’ and now is in a bit of a pinch. That takes an extraordinary level of confidence. Typically, we fumble our words or say something like we need to check with the product. Not Ferris, he is so confident he agrees to be an adult there is no way in the world he can impersonate. It isn’t enough for Ferris to have someone calling into the restaurant asking for him. He takes it a step further and stages him calling the police to report the restaurant. The easiest solution for the maître d' is to just ask for proof of identification. But Ferris has designed a solution that not only confirms his identity, but he ends up getting a free meal out of it as well. Look, I'm not saying that SEs are imposters and need to lie to sell their products. But I am pointing out that if we had as much confidence and could think on our feet as fast as Ferris, our demos would be much smoother.

Pricing Specialist | Food & Beverage Pricing Strategy | Price Optimisation | Commercial Models | Promotion Optimisation
Interesting move by Stonegate pubs. Although I believe in dynamic/variable pricing and pricing transparency within our industry, the way it has been presented to customers could significantly damage the brand proposition and price fairness perception. This could have been communicated/positioned better. For example: if the communication had been oriented towards a promotion or deals during slow periods (list the price of the "peak hours" as the reference price, and reduce it during slow days/hours). Stonegate Communication (Table Tent on Bar Counter): "Polite Notice: Dynamic Pricing is currently live in this venue during this peak trading session. Any increase in our pricing today is to cover these additional requirements: -To ensure we have enough staff so you are served quickly -Additional door staff for your safety -Satisfying and complying with licensing requirements -Extra cleaning routines and use of polycarbonate glasses Thank you for your cooperation!"

Staying in to watch the football at home? The Brits don’t really need a reason to visit the On Trade, but the Euro’s will provide a strong pull for even the lightest of drinkers to get together and experience that great pub atmosphere. However, for those that are looking to support from home, multipacks of cider are proving to be great value for those special occasions. Consumers are finding two of Westons multipacks especially appealing… the Stowford Press 10 x 440ml can pack has grown 34.4% in the past year, against a category that’s growing 4.4%. In a similar position, in crafted cider, is the Henry Westons 500ml x 6 pack, which is growing at an impressive 41.6% year on year, and is now a top 25 cider sku. Read more about the category and the trends for the year ahead in the latest Westons Cider report today: https://lnkd.in/eE3G_zX7 Source: Circana Infoscan 52 w/e 20th April 2024

Pricing Consultant & Advisor | Helping manufacturers and wholesalers achieve double-digit margin growth by moving focus from price to value | Speaker | Non Executive Director | M&A Optimisation | Transformation | Interim
I've seen a lot of posts and comments on this move by Stonegate by the pricing community, with the consensus being that the biggest issue is communication. What is really interesting is that the consumer reaction is clearly negative, yet the same consumer fully understands and accepts that a train ticket is cheaper at off peak times that at peak times. Now they complain that drinks are more expensive at peak times. It will take more than just good communication to convince consumers that this is fair and reasonable, it will need education over time to explain the concepts and show the comparison to the surge pricing the consumer already accepts in their daily lives. Isn't human behaviour and decision making fascinating? #RevenueManagement #Profit #Revenue #Pricing

TL;DR - Empty commercial properties could give our students a commercial property portfolio. I've been thinking about this and other venues like it. Apologies for the long response, well done to anyone who reads and maybe contributes a reply. I've been meaning to join a members club in London, but actually I do business around the country, so I am (and probably many business folk are) underserved at the moment. As a social impact, Hug Academy's objective is to redistribute wealth and help more families learn and acquire assets (rather than existing on debt). Therefore, hypothetically if, as part of one tuition tier (let's say £50 per month) we gifted our students £45 per month towards part ownership of a property like this, maybe wrapped up in a tax efficient vehicle, our students would build a commercial property portfolio as part of their tuition. Yield would come from business members (paying a small membership fee to book / use the facilities), plus proceeds from pub takings, plus asset appreciation. We could form investment clubs there to increase financial literacy in the community. It may help councils retain the property as a community business which generates them tax. Would anyone (maybe SME owners) like to discuss and get community members like Ian Rhodes his pub back and us national facilities we can use?
As Star are now actively removing my commmets I’m just going to keep posting my own. Star Pubs Still nothing is happening despite national announcements!
