Recently demonstrated at a grocery store in Colton, California, this 230 kW generator—designed , installed, and integrated by Mainspring Energy—consistently achieved over 40% efficiency across different loads while meeting strict emissions standards set by the South Coast Air Quality Management District. This demonstration project received funding in part from both the California Energy Commission and SoCalGas Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D), supporting its successful implementation. FuelCell Energy’s Tri-gen system at the Port of Long Beach will not only provide renewable electricity, hydrogen and water for Toyota North America Logistics Services, Tri-gen will benefit the Long Beach community by avoiding substantial NOx and CO2 emission and using the water produced by the system to wash vehicles instead of relying on the community’s water resources. Additionally, excess renewable electricity not used by TLS will be delivered to the local utility Southern California Edison (SCE) under the California Bioenergy Market Adjustment Tariff (BioMAT) program, adding a needed clean reliable, resilient, and affordable baseload electric generation resource to the electric grid. #hydrogen #Energytransition #fuelcells
