The purpose of this survey is simple but powerful: to gather honest feedback and suggestions from every team member, ensuring that we continue to grow and improve as an organization. Already, the insights we've received this year have been enlightening. The suggestions and honest feedback have sparked discussions and prompted us to introduce various activities and initiatives that have already lead to positive changes within the company. 🎉 Celebrating 5 Years with Vic Faulkner at X2 (UK) 🎉 This week, we're thrilled to acknowledge the 5-year work anniversary of Vic Faulkner and his impactful journey as our Operations Director at X2 (UK). Vic's relationship with us dates back even further, initially serving as Operations Manager from 2008 to 2012 and having worked closely with our Managing Director, Ian Cramb FCILT, for over 25 years. After a brief hiatus up North, Vic's return in 2019 has been nothing short of transformative. Ian Cramb had this to say about Vic: “Bringing Vic back into the X2 (UK) business was a fundamentally important part of our strategic plan to invest in people, processes, controls, and systems to turn what was a good business, into a great business. This has been achieved at all levels, despite the economic challenges that none of us could have predicted. Not only have we doubled in size since Vic joined, but we also have a tremendous platform to take advantage of the significant uplift in customers looking for our services in 2024. Vic is a consummate transport professional with a wealth of knowledge and diverse experience, but he is also great to work with and has a wicked sense of humour, which often is very welcome in a high-pressured transport environment!” Under Vic's leadership, we've navigated through unprecedented challenges, including Brexit, the global pandemic, and industry-wide driver shortages. Through it all, Vic's strategic foresight and unwavering commitment has been instrumental in X2 (UK) seeing steady growth, doubling our revenue over the last 5 years. When asked about his last five years, Vic said “It has been a challenging 5 years, especially with the impact of Brexit, COVID and the associated difficulties within the supply chain. Initially there was a downturn in activity, but our business model meant we could quickly adapt to the ever-changing environment. With the drive and commitment from the team, we have steered through these difficult times and have seen significant growth of the business.” As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our deepest gratitude to Vic for his dedication and leadership. I'm hot off the heels of a thrilling visit to Atlanta to celebrate the inaugural WestJet flight connecting Edmonton International Airport (YEG) to the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport with daily non-stop flights. James Jackson Adrian Warchola Paige Goueffic curated an incredibly inspiring group of Edmontonians to learn more about what makes Metro Atlanta special, how their economic development ecosystem works, and how we can develop meaningful relationships between our cities. Key learnings for me: 🚩 Economic development is a team sport. And like in team sports, the ownership group sets the vision for the organization, the coaching staff builds the strategy to achieve that vision, and the players execute it by working together and playing their positions as well as they can. 🚩 Stacking post-secondary institutions, technical colleges, and home grown startups to create depth within a particular industry vertical helps attract large corporations to your city to create challenging, meaningful jobs and spark game-changing innovation. 🚩 Access & connectivity are the foundations for growth. If people can get to your region, get around your region easily, meet people, bring ideas to life together, and move people and goods easily through your region across the country, you will be a strong community that everyone will be jumping over each other to invest in. This is a great flight for my company, Field Notes, to explore how we expand into new markets, but Atlanta is also a city we can learn a ton from, and I am excited to see what great ideas stick from this trade mission.
