It is a method where you target a captive audience, typically in a controlled environment where people have limited options for entertainment or distractions. You will mostly see these ads in movie theaters, airplanes, public transport, and many more. Potentially good news for fans of 4k UHD Blu-ray as Disney and Sony have just inked a major deal for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to take over all of Disney’s physical media production going forward. Disney has not been very active in releasing 4k UHD…especially frustrating given all the excellent films in their archive, including the Fox library. In theory, Sony should be better…although their track record isn’t great either…so many of their classics have either not been released or only as part of expensive box sets. For example, 8 years since the launch of 4k UHD, and Taxi Driver still hasn’t been released by Sony as a standalone 4k Blu-ray (maybe it will for its 50th Anniversary next year?), even though the 4k digital EST release came out c. 5 years ago.
