#Roadmap2033 is a community broadcasting sector-wide and transformative initiative in collaboration between the Community Broadcasting Foundation and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia launched last Saturday at the opening of the new studios for community radio station SWR-FM in Blacktown by Michelle Rowland MP, Minister for Communications. It has been heart-warming for the future of the community broadcasting sector to see such an inclusive and genuine process of involvement of so many people from across the sector, from volunteers and station staff as well as the sector representational organisations that assist the various groupings of stations, including the National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters' Council, First Nations Media Australia, Christian Media & Arts Australia, RPH Australia - the Radio Reading Network and the Australian Community Television Alliance. In case you aren't aware, the community broadcasting sector is large; there are more than 450 licensed community radio stations in Australia. Stations play an important role in providing a voice for communities that aren’t adequately serviced by other broadcasting sectors. Community radio stations operate in towns and cities across Australia with the largest proportion located in regional and remote areas (76%), and 24% across metropolitan and suburban locations. #communitymedia #communitybroadcasting #futureofmedia
We are thrilled to announce that #Roadmap2033 has officially launched! On Saturday, #Roadmap2033 was formally presented to the Hon Michelle Rowland MP, Minister for Communications, at the grand opening of new community radio station SWR FM in Blacktown. #Roadmap2033 is a ten-year plan for community broadcasters to achieve greater impact in every Australian community, outlining a shared vision for the future where community broadcasting is at the heart of every community. After 12 months of research and collaboration within Australia’s community broadcasting sector, it is now launched. Arriving at stations in the next few days will be a printed copy of Roadmap 2033 together with a poster of the strategic priorities and postcards to share with volunteers. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the process, providing vital feedback and insights that ensure that the vision for the next ten years of community broadcasting is truly inclusive of the diverse voices that make up our sector. VP of Digital Products & Strategy | Leading AI, Podcasting, Data Analytics & Software Development | Driving Media Innovation
Use the right tools for the right reasons. 🧰 I put together this illustration as a way to oversimplify the current digital toolbox available to broadcast media companies today. While the real world is way more complex than what I can fit into a single illustration, I believe this can help guide intentions when thinking about all of the tools we have. If you are building a plan to better utilize a tool in the toolbox I think it's important to start with a plan of "why". What does this tool/platform truly do for you? Does it fall into an area of control, monetization and direct relationships with your true customers? Or does it fit in an area of little control and little monetization, but is good for reaching potential new customers? Again, I know this is an oversimplification. Would love to get all of your thoughts and continue to modify this. #media #broadcasting #radio #news #digital

The FCC is shaking things up by authorizing geo-targeting for FM radio! This new order opens doors for FM broadcasters to provide hyper-local content to their listeners, from targeted advertisements to tailored news, weather, and traffic updates.
