📢 Exciting News! We are thrilled to announce our latest publication resulting from our fruitful collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology 📚 Title: "Evaluation of Losses in 3D-Printed Geodesic Lenses Using a Ray-Tracing Model" 🔍 This paper introduces an innovative generalized ray-tracing model, which efficiently computes the radiation pattern and efficiency of geodesic lenses with non-rotationally symmetric shapes. We've taken into account losses due to ohmic effects and surface roughness, especially crucial for monolithic geodesic lens antennas. These losses, which can't be mitigated with postprocessing, have been a significant challenge in the field. The validation of the model against full-wave simulations for various lenses has shown a remarkable 600-fold reduction in computational time, making it a game-changer in this space. 🔬 Additionally, we are proud to share that we've successfully manufactured a non-rotationally symmetric water drop lens as a monolithic piece using the Laser Powder-Bed Fusion (LPBF) technique. Our experimental results are promising and mark a significant milestone in our research journey. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the collaborative effort of Pilar Castillo Tapia, Sarah Clendinning and Oscar Quevedo Teruel.
