Al Michaels, who has previously commentated on nine Olympics, will not be in Paris this year. Instead, NBC has decided to use an AI-generated clone of his legendary voice. This innovative technology will analyse thousands of hours of footage to create a personalised highlight package featuring Michaels' iconic commentary. While this represents a significant advancement in AI and media, it also raises important questions with our AI expert, Will Liang. #AI #TechInnovation #SportsCommentary #Olympics #DigitalTransformation

Michel Gondrey's perspective on AI's potential impact on creativity is a significant point of contemplation. While AI's integration into the filmmaking process presents remarkable opportunities for innovation, Gondrey's concern about it possibly undermining our creative faculties resonates with a crucial aspect of this evolution. The balance between leveraging AI as a tool and preserving the intrinsic human touch in storytelling is delicate. AI could indeed revolutionize many technical aspects of filmmaking, possibly democratizing the process and making it more accessible. However, the art of storytelling has always been deeply human-centric, driven by emotions, experiences, and perspectives that AI currently cannot fully replicate. I think it's vital for us to engage with these technologies to gain an understanding of how they are shaping or even reshaping the craft. Rather than viewing AI as a threat, we could consider it a collaborator that needs to be guided and infused with our human creative spirit. I'm keen to watch the full conference and delve deeper into these discussions. It's a fascinating time for this industry, and conversations like these are crucial for shaping a future where technology enhances, rather than diminishes, our storytelling capabilities.

On the heels of SAG-AFTRA reaching a deal with the AMPTP Hollywood studios this week, and a ton of chatter on both the potential and threat of AI, I attended a UNESCO conversation on AI in the Film Industry in Paris. I was struck by French filmmaker Michel Gondrey’s concerns that reliance on AI will atrophy creative muscle & dull our potential for ingenuity as storytellers. The full conference is available to stream here now: https://lnkd.in/gczumiRN Would love to hear your thoughts…

"Future communication between people may decrease and potentially reach zero, while animals may hold the greatest potential for vocal communication with AI technology. With integrated technologies, we might communicate through a wider range of signals than just voice, potentially leading to a quieter world. These embedded communication systems could even transform volume control into emotional control, allowing us to express and perceive emotions with greater nuance and depth" #AI ##futureofcommunication #disruption #braincomputerinterfaces #neurotechnology #linkedinlearning #futureofwork #workplaceinnovation #techindustry #nonverbalspeech #volumecontroltoemotionalcontrol #animalcommunication
