Just returned from a week-long trip to NYC and the Bay Area, where I had the opportunity to meet with over 30 different early-stage venture capitalists as well as some of the iconic VC firms in Silicon Valley. My objective was to gain more insight into the next wave of AI-driven technology applications companies. It was an excellent opportunity to network and learn more about the latest trends in the industry. At some point I'll have to drop my "Deeptech VC" label. Deeptech will probably stay. But VC will be limiting. I think Harald Mix and Carl-Erik Lagercrantz from Vargas Holding hinted at something very true on a recent Sifted article. To build huge infrastructure tech moonshots (which I BELIVE Europe can champion), it'll be about "educating and bringing new investors on board with this new asset class”. 🏭 “It isn’t quite private equity, it’s not quite infrastructure, not quite growth, not VC. It's probably something in between infra and PE.” I think, though , that VC will play a huge role. But it only few will dare to break things and think of new models for this HUGE tech disruption opportunity.
