What do you do with the sheep after you get them over the bridge.
England Rugby legend Sir Bill Beaumont has received the Freedom of the City of London, in recognition of his outstanding services to sport. Bill made his debut for England in 1975, going on to win 34 caps and leading England to their first Grand Slam for 33 years in 1980. He also captained the The British & Irish Lions and later managed them on the tour to New Zealand in 2005. More than just a rugby player... While we're waiting for the new Premiership Rugby season to start, we're revisiting our chats with Premiership players to hear how rugby has given them a competitive edge off the pitch. Here, Bath prop Beno Obano shares how his experience in the sport helped shaped him and gave him the confidence to turn his business idea into reality. "Confidence comes from the understanding of your ability, not anybody else’s," says Beno. Beno believes that rugby gave him the confidence to pursue his dreams, which led him to setting up his own business, Sinnybaby Media, and directing two documentaries that are close to his heart. "In collision sports you get a lot of grace and humility because you’re one scrum or one tackle away from being embarrassed," he explains. "Success isn’t really linear. You can enjoy it for a little bit and you can be confident knowing what you’re able or capable of, but you know that can change very quickly so that keeps you quite humble and keeps you quite grounded." #CompetitiveEdge #SmallBusinessTips #SmallBusinessLove

Since the beginning of this year, World Rugby has implemented instrumented mouthguards (iMGs) across all elite competitions. However, the use of iMGs is not restricted to elite players and competitions. Community and School Rugby can hugely benefit from iMG technology. This Rugby Pass article discusses the importance of coaches and trainers being able to identify when young players require further head injury assessment – addressing common parental concerns around the sport. Harlequins' association with 'legendary' (notorious may be a better description) nightclub Infernos is indicative of the poor state domestic rugby in England finds itself in. 📉 English rugby faces huge challenges in making itself commercially viable. ⛔ Three top-level professional clubs have gone out of business and been banished from the league in the last couple of years. 🏗 In response, clubs are making decisions based on short-term revenue to the determinant of long-term value and brand building. 😬 Whilst this may solve an individual's personal targets, it does little for the business's long-term viability. 💸 It's certainly not an easy answer, and there is a fine line to tread, but brand value has to be maintained alongside revenue-generating work otherwise it's just a race to the bottom. 🤔 What do you think rugby clubs could be doing to boost commercial revenue in a sustainable way? #sportsbiz #sportsmarketing #sportsindustry #sportsbusiness #StriveSays ---------------------- 💥 My name is Malph. 🆘 Helping brands to use sponsorship to deliver marketing objectives. 🤝 Supporting rights holders to build valuable partnerships. Where do professional Rugby players come from? You probably think that the Premiership clubs and private schools provide them. But most start out at their local club. Grassroots rugby is the seedbed for rugby talent, and trust me, they don't turn up with all the skills on day one. Rugby is a sport that you grow into physically, mentally and emotionally. If the right environment exists then the players will develop and go as far as they chose. At our club we put the focus on inclusion, retention and attendance, not try’s, trophies and medals. Hearing Ben Stokes say England Cricket isn't results focused is fantastic for young sports people, although he has been wildly mis-understood. If the focus is on contribution, development and performance, then results should take care of themselves. Too many factors are out of the individual player’s control. Our coaching teams focus on contribution, development and enjoyment for the players. The players can take their contribution to the professional level or into our senior teams, it is their choice. We are proud of them all. #rugby #development #contribution #grassrootssport #englandrugby https://lnkd.in/e6_XCacq
