Some people wish on stars. I wished on LinkedIn, and it came true! A few months ago, I made a wish on LinkedIn. “Send me an oil and gas project” I’ve got experience in the industry. So, it wasn’t a crazy wish. But within a few days, a past colleague contacted me with an urgent request. He needed a Process and Instrumentation Diagram and an isometric drawing for a line heater at a facility. Perfect! I landed an oil and gas project! Oil and gas projects are my favorite. These are fun puzzles to solve. Plus, as a chemical engineer, I get to leverage my expertise to help our customers. I love delivering complex, high-stakes projects like these on time and within budget. You can bet I’ll be making more wishes here on LI. I post here telling people who I am, and what we can do, so I’m the one they think of when they need help. What wish do you want to make on LinkedIn? Drop it in my comments..it could come true! #energy #oilandgas #engineering #operations #maintenance #projects

Resume, Cover Letter & LinkedIn Specialist ◆ Top 100 Women in the Energy Transition ◆ Top 15 LinkedIn Experts in Houston ➤ I help senior and executive-level Oil, Gas & Energy professionals optimize profiles and level up!
One of my completions engineering clients has received 2 job offers from operators only 3 WEEKS after having his resume and LinkedIn rebuilt! This client has 7 years on the services side and 4 years on the E&P side. His experience also has combined completions design work with field operations experience, making him a very well-rounded candidate for operators. He couldn’t gain traction in his job search due to two main issues: ➡️ His content was too services focused and didn’t come across as an ideal fit for operator environments. He had a tough time figuring out which content needed to be streamlined and what his audience needed to hear. ➡️ He used an ‘everything and the kitchen sink’ approach to writing his materials. Too much generic content and not enough focus! Since I’ve worked with so many completions engineers over the years, it was also helpful that he didn’t need to explain industry terms to me. 😊 Right now, he’s beyond excited about having options. I know vacations are still in full swing, but O&G hiring is going strong! Hope your job searches are going well too, friends! #oilgas #oilandgas #engineering #petroleum #energy #jobseekers #energystrong

After oil & gas engineering, I’m used to complex problems, but “simple” ones are fun too. We recently had a General Contractor ask us to provide office trailers for a job site. Sounds simple, right? As a chemical engineer, I’d agree. But, “simple” doesn’t mean “easy”. Details matter. Some clients know exactly the trailers they want. They know where they want to put them. They know whether they want stacked trailers. They have the site plans ready for install. But, other clients…well, they don’t. That’s why they need us. We talked with the GC and visited the site to understand: Requirements, Site specifics, Timelines, & Budget. Then we worked with the rental company to come up with options that fit the need. We considered large trailers, smaller trailers, stacked trailers…just about every possible configuration. In the end, I presented a couple of good options to the GC. He picked 1 large one, 1 small one, & not stacked. The GC was happy to get what he needed …and even happier someone else worked the details. I’m happy to work the details …and even happier to add another satisfied GC to our client roster.

Technicians do more hardwork than Engineers 🤔 Do you agree? This is usually the bone of contention in the Oil and Gas Industry. While you may have your opinions and can defend it, A major difference is the scope of their work. ▪︎ Engineers design and plan how systems work, for example, how to extract oil and gas efficiently from reservoirs, wells etc. ▪︎ They use softwares to analyze data, predict and determine drilling locations and methods etc. ▪︎ They ensure the process is environmentally safe and in compliances to regulatory standards/Policies. ▪︎ And the minimum qualification is a University degree (B.Tech, B.Eng). On the other hand, ▪︎ Technicians are the operators and maintenance workers that follow the procedures set by Engineers. ▪︎ They are responsible for tasks like, monitoring pressure guages, changing drilling bits or performing maintenance on pipelines, containers, machines etc. ▪︎ The certifications are often diplomas in the specific field. In simple terms, an Engineer is a designer, Supervisor, and Project Manager while a techician builds, operate and maintain what the Engineers designed. For the smooth running of any project, both must carry out their roles without any competition. Can a Technician become an Engineer?? Yes! And he would eventually be an authority because of his vast knowledge and exposure in the related field. P.S Did you learn something or have a different opinion, Kindly share to enlighten someone. Repost ♻️ to enlighten your community. #QueenofOilandGas

This article describes the process engineer´s essential tasks and the order in which they should be carried out during FEED for a centrifugal compressor in an oil and gas project, so that the documentation is fit for the execution phase, leading to a successful project. A successful project is defined as one in which: · The actual facilities costs during execution are equal to or less than the cost estimate budgeted at the conclusion of FEED. · The production plant is started up on time, and performs satisfactorily under start up, operation and planned shutdown scenarios. Maintenance can be carried out safely. · The process safeguarding systems automatically shut down the plant in a safe manner in the event of deviations from the acceptable range of process conditions. The article is one of a series I am writing which aim to help graduate process engineers significantly reduce their learning curve in oil and gas design work.
