Connecting international high school students with compatible host families to build more culturally diverse families, schools, and communities
Hosting an international student is a way to unlock the world for your family (and an international student). Watch this short video below to see how a Lowell, Michigan family and a girl from Spain became a bigger family together!
On Valentine's Day, we celebrate the connections that are at the HEART 💜 of our high school exchange programs - the enduring bond between an international student and their host family. Last year, Paula from Spain inspired us with her memories of staying with the Fritts family - so we flew her back to Michigan for an incredible reunion with her second family! And you can see the 💜💜💜 (we dare you not to say "awww" when you learn what her little host brother does at school!) #HostAStudent #BeAHostFamily #UnlockConnections #StudentExchange Brian Compagna Jodi Del Razo Óscar Porras Sánchez Sean van der Steen

🌞 Wishing You a Bright Summer Ahead from Hepler Law & Consulting 🌞 As we officially welcome summer, I’m excited to share some reflections and updates from Hepler Law & Consulting. Each season, marked by a solstice or equinox, offers a chance to reflect on the past and plan for the future. This Summer Solstice, I’m particularly grateful for the growth, connections, and experiences of the past spring. Spring Highlights and Reflections: 1. Professional Milestones: Sworn into the Washington State Bar and soon to be admitted to the New York Bar. Expansion plans include establishing new locations in Seattle and New York City to better serve clients and grow operations. 2. Community Involvement: Hosted artist Jaclyn Eckersley for Sandpoint’s summer art walk, attended and donated to the Sandpoint Pride Festival, and continued involvement in the community land trust initiative. 3. Personal Celebrations: Celebrated my son Arlo’s third birthday and my own thirty-third birthday. Both milestones were filled with joy, reflection, and gratitude. 4. Travel and Exploration: Spring was filled with both local exploration and exciting trips to Seattle, British Columbia, and more. These travels offered a chance to meet new friends, gain fresh perspectives, and find moments of peace amidst the busyness. Advice for Fellow Professionals: 1. Embrace Change: Use the changing seasons as a natural reminder to reflect, plan, and set new goals. 2. Balance Work and Personal Life: It’s challenging but crucial. Delegate where you can and make time for family and personal growth. 3. Stay Connected: Whether through community events or professional gatherings, building and nurturing relationships is key. 4. Prioritize Self-Care: Take breaks and travel when possible to recharge and gain new insights. As we move into summer, I’m excited for what lies ahead, including more adventures and a trip to Europe. I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on their spring and set intentions for the summer. Wishing you all a season filled with growth, joy, and new opportunities! https://lnkd.in/gVhq3Q9d

🌐 Celebrating World Braille Day: Advocating Accessibility and Inclusion! 📚🌟 As we embrace the first week of 2024, let's spotlight a significant day—World Braille Day observed on the 4th of January! 🎉 This day holds special significance as it marks the birthday of Louis Braille, the inventor of the Braille code that has empowered countless individuals with visual impairments. 📖 This year's theme: "Accessibility and Inclusion in Education and Information Dissemination," resonates deeply with the essence of World Braille Day. It's a call to action, urging us to ensure that every individual, regardless of their abilities, has equal access to education and information. 🔍 Reflecting on this theme, let's challenge ourselves to: 1️. Promote Inclusive Learning: Advocate for integrating Braille and other accessible formats in educational institutions to create an inclusive learning environment. 2️. Amplify Information Accessibility: Extend our efforts to make information universally accessible, breaking down barriers that may hinder the full participation of individuals with visual impairments. 3️. Raise Awareness: Share the significance of Braille and the impact it has on the lives of people with visual impairments. Awareness is the first step toward fostering a more inclusive society. 💬 How are you contributing to accessibility and inclusion in education and information dissemination? Share your initiatives and insights in the comments below. Let's inspire each other to make a meaningful difference! On this World Braille Day, let's commit to building a world where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive, irrespective of their abilities. 🌍🤝 #Geuzawazo #WorldBrailleDay #AccessibilityInEducation #InclusionMatters #AccessibleInformation #InclusiveLearning #LinkedInCommunity #AdvocacyForChange
