In this week's newsletter, we discussed the stranger danger dichotomy. It’s the idea that for 20 years, we choose our friends and have little expectation to interact meaningfully with anyone outside our circle. Then, when we step into the office for the first time, everything changes. Suddenly we’re surrounded by strangers of different ages, cultural backgrounds, and interests for eight hours a day, five days a week. It can be tough, especially as a younger professional. Why would anything we say be of interest or value to a building full of people older, wiser, and infinitely busier than us? In the blink of an eye what was once a safety measure becomes a critical skill for success. Has this been something you’ve struggled with? Let us know below.

I was terrified at the thought of talking to my bosses when I first started work. In the fullness of time, one of those become an amazing mentor, inspiration and friend. It’s so important for our Gen Z’s entering the corporate world to learn how to harness their communication skills & benefit from the wisdom around them. Well done to the team at @Lukewarm Regards for recognising this gap and providing these insights.
