How can airlines solve their challenges faster and more effectively? At NextRise (넥스트라이즈) in Seoul 🇰🇷, the largest startup fair in Asia, our Director Research & Intelligence Dr. Ivan Terekhov delved deeper into the topic. This year, we’re celebrating 10 years of InTENtional Innovation at Lufthansa Innovation Hub. Dr. Ivan Terekhov highlighting the importance of innovation at NextRise (넥스트라이즈) marks another step on our mission to lead the future of travel and aviation and to drive innovation inTENtionally with focus, ambition, and purpose. These are our 3 key takeaways: 🔥 Both low-cost and full-service airline carriers see innovation as critical for driving future investments and maintaining competitiveness. However, most airlines are currently working on their challenges while staying in their own bubble. Boosting their innovation activities can help them to solve their challenges faster and more effectively. 📉 The rate of patent filings in the aviation sector has slowed down, reflecting a decline in new technological advancements. Encouraging a culture of innovation and research & development is essential to revitalize patent activity. 💸 Airlines strategically investing in startups can lead to significant improvements in terms of operations, sustainability and digital consumer experience and drive industry growth. However, only a few airlines have ventured into startup investments so far. Overcoming regulatory and financial barriers is essential to foster a more robust startup ecosystem within aviation. In your view, what other ways are there for airlines to boost their innovation activities? #NextRise #NextRise2024 #PushingTheLimits #LIH10
