Deutsche Bahn, the parent company, wants to focus on its core business of passenger rail transport and invest in green initiatives. Selling DB Schenker, a non-core asset, would free up capital and resources for these priorities. On December 19, 2023, Deutsche Bahn officially announced the open and non-discriminatory sale process. ---Why are they Selling ? The logistics industry experienced a boom during the pandemic, but economic uncertainty and high fuel costs are now dampening growth. Deutsche Bahn may see this as an opportune time to sell for a good price and reinvest the gains into there core business. - -- Who are the potential Buyers. Logistics Industry : #DHL , #DSV , #UPS and few others. Port Operators : Abu Dhabi Ports backed by ADQ , Dubai Ports World ( separate bids ). Shipping Lines : #Maersk , #Msc Private equity firms - number of them. - -- What will be good for the Industry ? In my personal opinion it will be good if Port Operators or Private equity buys since it will stop the ongoing consolidation happening in the industry by likes of DSV , CMA and Maersk. Nevertheless it will lead to either or all of below factors : - #Consolidation: The sale could trigger further consolidation in the already concentrated logistics market, with fewer, larger players dominating the scene. - Shifting #power dynamics: The buyer's identity will influence the landscape, potentially impacting competition, pricing, and service offerings. - Uncertainty for employees: While new ownership often brings investment and growth, there may be concerns about job security and changes to working conditions in the transition. --- How Much #money you need in case you are interested ? Banking sources suggest a potential price tag of €12-15 billion, down from earlier estimates due to market conditions.

A long-term commercial #partnership centered on air cargo has been established between CHAMP Cargosystems and Deloitte through the signing of an agreement. According to an official announcement, the agreement was revealed during a signing ceremony held in Hong Kong as part of the IATA World Cargo Symposium.
