It’s National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day! Today is a day to celebrate the shelter pets you dedicate your lives to saving 🧡 Approximately 7 million homes in America plan to add a pet to their family this year. According to 2023 data collected by Best Friends, if just 6% more chose to adopt, we would close the lifesaving gap and save every at-risk pet in our nation's shelters. But we have to welcome them in with open, inclusive adoption practices, or we risk them turning to other sources for their family pets. Just 6% more. That’s both a huge goal and a small step at the same time. The same applies to so many causes that matter to each of us — we tend to look for the 100% solution to huge goals and gets paralyzed by that, that we forget we just need to take one small step to start. One action. One campaign. One conversation.

Is Occupational Safety & Health Management System the best we can offer to our employees towards humanizing work and being inclusive?
Today is World Day Against Pet Abandonment. Abandonment – the opposite of adoption – typically refers to surrender, desertion, or neglect. In 2014, a young puppy named Rapunzel was rescued from the wild. She got adopted quickly and grew up in a home with a new name - Typo. However, in October 2023, Typo suddenly needed to be rehomed. Reflecting on our response to this SOS, I see clear parallels with my latest work with HeroCODE Academy. Just as we adapted to Typo's needs and supported her resilience, the 4 Guiding Principles drive our adaptation and response to unexpected events. 1. Courage to Act: Despite challenges and uncertainties, we prioritized Typo's physical and psychosocial well-being by welcoming her into our home promptly. 2. Own the Challenge: Upon Typo's arrival, a thorough assessment identified areas where we could help, such as addressing her emotional baggage (see video) and treating her sensitive, pus-filled paws. Taking ownership of her care inspired swift recovery in health and confidence. 3. Demonstrate Passion: Managing Typo's sensitive paws, which risked bites during cleaning due to her pain, and addressing overgrown nails causing inflammation required patience and dedication. In spite of the challenges, our commitment to her recovery never wavered. 4. Engage Respectfully: Building trust with Typo involved understanding her past traumas and respecting her journey. This approach fostered a strong, trusting relationship that facilitated her healing process. Today, Typo has found happiness with another family as an 8-year-old black beauty. Witnessing her joyful transformation underscores the importance of respecting life. Ensuring animals are cared for parallels the pursuit of success at work, demanding a commitment to both physical and psychosocial safety. Remember, a dog is a lifelong commitment. Please adopt responsibly and seek support from your Animal Welfare Group if facing challenges. Let's ensure our pets never pay the price for our decisions. #RespectingLife #HeroCODE #adoptAccountability

🐾 Last Saturday marked International Dog Day, and though we're fashionably late (because Gamescom🙃), we want to send out a massive bark-out to all the good boys and girls out there! Meet RedOne, our virtual adoptee. We support him while he's in the loving care of Fundacja Krzykosiaki - a pet rescue for dogs that might not be the first choice for adoption. For our peers in the gaming industry and beyond, here's a thought: 📝 If animal welfare aligns with your values, embed it in your company's ethos. Make it visible, be it on your website or promotional materials. 💰 Provide financial backing to pet rescues. Beyond one-time gestures, 'virtual adoptions' provide steady backing. 🗓 Foster a culture of volunteering. At 8Bit, we offer up to 4 volunteer days yearly. 🦮 Advocate for mindful pet adoption. We share tales of successful adoptions, have dedicated channels for pet-centric discussions, and even grant an extra day off to employees for new pet onboarding. Pets make our world brighter, let's do our bit to make theirs the same. 📽️ Video by: Zbyszek Kowalewski, Fundacja Krzykosiaki #internationaldogday #gamingcommunity #animalwelfare #adoptdontshop

Happy Random Act of Kindness Day, fellow pet lovers! 🐾💖 Today is the perfect opportunity to extend our love and compassion beyond our furry family members and reach out to the broader community of animal enthusiasts. Here are a few paws-itively impactful ways you can make a difference: 1. Share Supplies: Got extra pet food, toys, or accessories? Consider donating them to local animal shelters or fellow pet parents in need. 2. Volunteer Time: Spend some time volunteering at a local animal shelter. Whether it's walking dogs, cuddling cats, or helping with events, your time is invaluable. 3. Foster a Pet: Open your home to foster pets. Providing a temporary home can significantly impact an animal's life and aid in their socialization and adoption process. 4. Support Pet Businesses: Buy from local pet shops or pet-friendly cafes. Supporting small businesses helps the pet-loving community thrive. 5. Educate and Advocate: Use your voice on social media to spread awareness about pet adoption, responsible pet ownership, and animal welfare issues. 6. Random Acts of Pet Kindness: Offer to pet sit for a friend who needs a break, or surprise a neighbour with a dog walk on a busy day. ❓What Was Your Random Act of Kindness ❓ My act of kindness is focused on one specific family and helping them overcome troubles with their furry friend. Every little act of kindness creates ripples of love and care that can transform lives. Let's make the world a better place for our animal friends, one kind gesture at a time. 🐕🐈💕 #RandomActsofKindnessDay #PetLoversUnite #AnimalWelfare #SpreadLove #KindnessMatters #AdoptDontShop February 17, 2024 at 09:05AM via Instagram https://lnkd.in/g_ZrgSaG
